Guest guest
Lily: Does anyone have any insights on what to ask the technician, and what to expect at this appointment. You will be given a care sheet (if not, ask for one!) Also, are there any supplies I should get prior to getting the band (I'm going to pick up some rubbing alcohol and I've already bought some Loreal Kids shampoo). Make sure you get some strong alcohol. I used 99%, but had to ask the pharmacist for it. I also liked using jumbo cotton balls, rather than a cloth. We are having Drew's band painted and it won't be ready until Friday Make sure you ask the painter to put several coats of acrylic VARNISH (or other alternative s/he thinks will work) over the paint. Also ask him or her to give you a small amount of paint to take home for touch ups. You will get some chipping, but it will be minimal with the coats of varnish. Finally, I had originally thought the band goes on for 23 hrs/day from the start, but in reading through some previous messages, it looks like you build up to that time. Ideally, you should aim for the 23 hours. Most babies will not mind the band, and providing you have a good fit, it can stay on for all 23 hours. If baby is fussy, or you see RED spots, or skin breakdown, keep it on as long as possible, but if sleeping seems to be an issue, don't feel guilty about working up to it over a few days/week. Good luck! Kendra gpfeiff@... wrote: Hi All, I just found out that Drew's DOC band will be ready tomorrow, Thursday, so we will be going to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure this has probably been asked before, so I apologize if this is repetitious. Does anyone have any insights on what to ask the technician, and what to expect at this appointment. I was told we would need to stay in the office for about 1 hr. to make sure there weren't any sensitive spots on Drew's head from the band. Also, are there any supplies I should get prior to getting the band (I'm going to pick up some rubbing alcohol and I've already bought some Loreal Kids shampoo). We are having Drew's band painted and it won't be ready until Friday, so his first day in the band won't be until late Friday or Saturday. Are there any signs we should look out for, that would signal the band isn't fitting and that we should remove the band? I'm a little worried because we're starting on the weekend and won't be able to consult CT until Mon. Finally, I had originally thought the band goes on for 23 hrs/day from the start, but in reading through some previous messages, it looks like you build up to that time. Can anyone provide a recommended schedule or any guidance on how many hours/day to expect wearing the band over the first week? Thanks again for your help.
