Thank you Haleh...I am looking forward to a very eductional journey. I want to

do what is right fo rmy son...I just don't know what that is right now. He is

very High functioning...does not gaze off into space, follows most directions,

speaks quite well now, speech is still behind where he should be....but he is

talking almost constantly, he engages myself and husband in his play schema

often...etc. The main areas of concern are some undesirable temper tantrums,

own agenda stuff, inappropriate volumes, sensory issues....and so forth. Hope

to get to know many of you. In Illinois by the way.

Welcome both to the group. Please note that with the following comments I am

not speaking for the group but my own findings.

Here you will find discussion of autism treatment ranging from beginning level

to advance. I joined the group last spring and have learned so much.

Let me begin by saying if your information about autism came from your child's

pediatrician, you can be convinced that you have been supplied with little to

no useful info and a lot of presumptions.

Many people who treat their children via natural interventions, i.e enzymes,

nutritional changes, special diet, etc believe that autism is an autoimmune

disorder that is caused by a combination of genetic susceptibility and

environmental toxins, exposure to heavy metals, pesticide, excessive use of

antibotics post and/or prenatal as well as childhood vaccines which has

contained world's second most dangerous neurotoxin, Mercury.

The genetic susceptibility does not mean that your child was doomed to be

autistic or is doomed to stay autistic. It means that he/she is more

vulnerable to autism if exposed to toxic agents and environmental factors.

Furthermore, many of us here know that autism is treatable, can be

significantly helped and even reversed through the right combination of

interventions.

The first step is to address the issue of gut, digestion etc.

proper dietary changes such as removal of artificial color and flavor and

chemically treated food is very important.

Almost all children on the spectrum will benefit from digestive enzymes

because they help the proper break down of food. Enhance the absorption of

nutrients and help heal the gut injuries that so many of our children suffer

from.

In addition many kids can not properly break down proteins from Gluten (wheat,

oats, barley...) and Casein (milk, cheese, yogurt...) and soy and need to

remove those in order for their bodies and mind to function better. A large

percentage of our children break down these proteins improperly to short chain

amino acids that gets picked up by the opiate receptors of the brain and the

result is an addiction to these foods that cause brain fog, gazing,

insensitivity to pain (as if they are on narcotic drugs) to just name a few.

Removing these food brings about a noticeable cognitive, sleep as well as gut

improvements in many of these kids.

A subset of these children are capable of breaking these foods properly with

the aid of digestive enzymes like Houston's AFP Peptizide and can avoid the

Gluten Free and Casein Free (GFCF) diet. Other kids not only remove these food

but a host of other food that they are reactive to. My son is on 4 types of

digestive enzymes and we have removed all nuts (but peanut only on rotational

basis), soy, and many other thing. He is doing great and the more food we have

removed the better he eats and he has also expanded his diet.

There are also many other interventions we discuss here (biomedical).

I highly recommend every parent of autistic children to read " Children with

Starving Brains " by Dr. Jaqulyn McCandless and also book mark the following

websites as reference and use them to learn about autism from those who are

actually treating it with success and not the mainstream doctors.

Haleh can speak for me!! I agree, my son was diagnosed just over 4 years ago as

autistic. He was moderate to severe really. We started biomed treatment soon

after diagnosis and the changes have been nothing short of a miracle. The hard

part if getting the right advice and knowing what to do and what not to do. I

would absolutely give my right arm to have found this group and the autism

mercury group when my son was first diagnosed. He would have been recovered by

now. Of that I have no doubt!!

This past year we have started enzymes (for almost the whole family!), b-12

and chelation per Andy Cutler's protocol. The changes this past year have been

amazing. He had been slowly getting better but wow, the changes this past year

have been so wonderful!! He is now 6 and I am really hoping to put him in a

typical classroom this fall. If not this fall by next fall for sure!

Haleh is a great person to get advice from, I read just about everything she

writes!

Welcome and we can't wait to hear of the wonderful things your kids are doing!

Me, as well. Haleh can definetely speak for me. My son was diagnosed 3 years

ago, and just turned 5.

On his recent tests by his speech path., and behavioral consultant, he is

still considered severe.

I wish I would have started this intervention as soon as I found out, but

we were living in a backward city that gave us no info. 9 months ago, we

moved to a new city to get better therapy, and another mom suggested this

group to me- this has been the best thing to happen to us yet. All of the

people are so supportive and helpful. They never make you feel like you are

asking a dumb question, or thay are never annoyed about simple questions

that have been asked a million times before.

Haleh is a wonderful person and friend to all of us. She is doing amazing

things with her own son, and has helped so many parents, definetely me

included.

Welcome, and I also, can't wait to hear of all of the good things that are

about to happen for you and your children.

Amber.
