Guest guest
Hi I'm very impressed with DOC band pictures, but we live in Daly City and will have to fly to LA or PH to get one. Can you tell a little bit about the helmet you got through Stanford? Or can you give their phone number please? This would be a big help. -Thanks a lot, Alena
Guest guest
Alena, I don't have the number for Stanford with me. The Orthotist we use is Halloway, and the number for his center is 650 237-9217. I am sure they can give you the number for Stanford Craniofacial clinic. Or look up Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital Web page. I have it at home, so can bring it to work tomorrow. The helmet we have is fairly similar to the Doc Band/Star Band in how it works. We were casted and then the helmet was made from the casting. It took about 3 weeks to get the helmet once it was cast. I understand that is partly because of the number of children they are seeing ( 1 - 2 per day). I am told it is an FDA approved helmet, but don't have a specific name. The top opening is smaller than the Doc Band, and it splits down both sides. There is a screw at the top on each side that holds the front and back together, yet allows it to pivot open to put babies head in and out. There are velcro closures on each side to hold it tight. There isn't a chin strap or anything else. It really looks a little more like a football helmet, but similar to the other bands. Our helmet weighs 7 oz. Because it is hinged on both sides, it has fit longer than it appears some people can wear the doc band, we've had it nearly 3 months, and will finish in another month. The orthotist has tightened, loosened, and changed the fit over time. One thing I like about it is there are air holes all over it, which allows Tyler's head to breathe better. You are welcome to come meet my son if you want to see the helmet first hand. If you send me your direct e-mail, I will try to send you some pictures. We have seen tremendous correction in the 3 months. In fact, his head looks pretty darn round. When I bathe him, I can still see flatness. We had very little facial assymmetry, but the ears were off a bit. I can't really tell if that has corrected or not. > Hi > I'm very impressed with DOC band pictures, but we live in Daly City > and will have to fly to LA or PH to get one. Guest guest
Alena, every note I get has your e-mail truncated. I have pictures posted on Shutterfly, but need to send you a note from there to give you access. Send me a note directly at cjj408.hotmail.com, so I get your whole e-mail. Even when you typed it in here, somehow egroups truncated it. > > > Hi > > > I'm very impressed with DOC band pictures, but we live in Daly > City > > > and will have to fly to LA or PH to get one.
