Guest guest
I wanted to add to the messages you already got that yeast treatment is one of the trickiest things you will do and for a portion of these kids you wont beat it until they get the metals out of their system. My daughter - apart form the supplements she takes - is a pretty normal 3 yr old right now. But our doc gave us a NINE MONTH course of specially compounded Nystatin. It was WONDERFUL for us. I miss it. Actually the DAN was willing to give us more of it while we continued to tackle the underlying problems but I wanted to make a go of it without the Nystatin so I am doing the rotating thing that many here also do. It works but not at all as well ort smoothly as the Nystatin/Primal Defense combo we used for so long!! One course of Nystatin (for 9 days) might kill some yeast but wont end the underlying symptoms Take care, Josie Nystatin for yeast I'm wondering what the usual length of Nystatin treatment is for yeast overgrowth? My daughter took it for 9 days...starting out with small doses and increasing the dosage to 3x daily. I'm a little confused with her behavior changes. The week after Christmas we started spectrum complete (hypoallergenic) vits from Kirkman. Within 3 days she was requesting her hair up in a pony tail (this is a girl who wouldn't even let me wash her hair without a fight). We continued to add supp's one every week-cod liver oil (nordic naturals), vitamin c (1000mg), calcium chewables, zinc and melatonin at night time. She was a completely different child. Oh yeah, we switched her chocolate milk drink to almond breeze back in Nov. and her eye contact improved greatly. You would never have known she was diagnosed with Asperger's autism! Then we started Nystatin since her OAT test showed yeast overgrowth. The first 2 days on Nystatin we noticed that eye contact was a little hard for her again (she was back to being concerned about people looking at her). The symptoms weren't that bad, so we finished it out. Last day was last Tuesday. Wednesday she got this cold the rest of the family had-sore throat, sinus congestion. Her behavior has escalated-----impulsiveness, aggressive, lining things up, spinning in circles. She awoke Sun. with her eyes glued shut from green drainage. I used tea tree steam treatments and her congestion is getting better. This is the first time since she was 6 months old that she has not had to use albuterol nebs for wheezing (usually by day 2 of a cold) so I am convinced we are still doing good. However, I question the yeast----she is wanting bread, ice cream (her casein free), chips, and lots of her milk again. I still have this big bottle of Nystatin (we only used 1/4 of it) with 3 refills. WE don't see our DAN dr. until March. I'm just wondering if the treatment shouldn't have been longer or if she shouldn't be on a special " yeast diet " . BTW-I am finding the GF/CF to be a nightmare with both my kids (ages 9 and almost 5). We're failing miserably other than milk. And the battle of vitamins every morning is also a hassle. I just want to chelate and get it overwith! I " d appreciate any advice. Thanks- P.S. I also noticed that her copper level was elevated on some of her bloodwork. Guest guest
Has anyone ever used nystatin in combination with natural treatments for yeast?(like candidase or candex) If so, what was your experience and did your child have to be on it long term? Does it harm the liver? Thanks for your input! Ginger
