Band too loose?

was fitted for her band on 12/27th. She has 9 mm of

assymetry. She has a real flat head-rated just under severe. The

band seems to be loose. Her back right side there is open space to

grow into. But the band seems likes it moves on her head. We are

consistantly adjusted it. Is this normal?

I was told that the band would slip around a lot for the first few weeks

until the head started changing shape. Just keep slipping it back in the

right spot. I was worried that if it was in the wrong place for too long it

would do major damage to the correction of the plagio, but that was not the

case. Pretty soon the band will start to fit better as the head shape

starts to improve. It really is a miracle! Right now, 's band has

nothing to " hold onto " in the back because of the flatness. But, if you

have big concerns, call Cranial Tech and tell them. They will let you come

in if they think it's a problem.

This is just my two cents from my " hindsight " perspective . . .

If the band seems loose when you " start " treatment, consider pushing

for an " extended " treatment time. I tend to wonder if the band was

doing much good in the very beginning for us, and now wish we would

have kept our daughter in it a bit longer to get as much out of it as

we could, regardless of it seeming " tight " at the end, and some

concerns over a big red spot (from pressure) on her forehead. That

all faded and her forehead's fine, but I don't think we got as much

correction as we were hoping for. I guess I'm thinking that the band

was doing more when it was " tight " than " loose, " which only stands to

reason . . .

At the end, Hanna's band actually sat crooked on her head. We took

it off 3 days before she "officially" graduated, just because it fit so

funny, I was scared it was doing more harm than good. She wore 1

band for 5 months. It was ready to come off - pretty small!
