We were instructed to use ONLY alcohol. I have been tempted to bring out the bleach! Not really but yes, we have a stinky band too. I have been drenching the thing in alcohol and scrubbing it until it seems like I am going to scrub off the inside but still it is stinky. My daughter has a pretty good head of hair and I attribute some of the stink to that.
Guest guest
If you can find some direct sunlight, put the band in it after you clean it for the hour it's off. Don't worry, the sweating will decrease in the weeks to come. It will get better, not worse. Kendra wrote: Hi, Like everyone, we now have a stinky DOC band - YUK! I have a couple of questions. Does anyone clean their band more than once a day? Ive been thinking of cleaning it in the morning when gets up, and then again at night when I give her a bath. Im using 99% alcohol and Ive got the watermelon shampoo, but it still is stinky. Any other suggestions. I cant imagine what this thing is going to smell like in 3 months! and (banded 12/28)
Guest guest
: I didn't see if anyone answered you specifically, but the shampoo is one of the L'Oreal for Kids line of scented shampoos. It leaves the child's head scented and that scent helps control the stinky band smell. We also used apricot and cherry almond. During bath, I let the shampoo sit on 's head for as long as possible before rinsing and it really did help. You are right about alcohol only on the DOC band. Check with your pharmacist to see if they have a higher concentration than the 91% on the shelf. Also, let the band sit in the sun (if you have any where you live) for a bit. We did that this summer and it really did help kill the smell. Hope it is getting better. Guest guest
I recently discovered that Suave also makes a kids line of scented shampoos, similar to L'Oreal. In addition to using L'Oreal Watermelon shampoo, we also use Suave Cherry-Almond. Mmmmm, smells good! -----Original Message----- From: msluck [mailto:msluck@...] Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2001 2:04 PM Plagiocephalyegroups Subject: Re: Stinky band questions : I didn't see if anyone answered you specifically, but the shampoo is one of the L'Oreal for Kids line of scented shampoos.
