Hi everybody,

Since you've all been so helpful with tons of non-related tort and

plagio questions - here's a dilemma for you!!!

Zack is 5 months old today and still wakes up during the night to

eat! He usually goes to sleep between 7 and 8pm, then wakes between

11:30 and 12:30 to eat AND AGAIN around 4:30 - 5:30..

He weighs over 18 pounds, so he doesn't NEED to eat, and our

Pediatrician says we should start letting him cry for 10 minutes or

so... then feed him,

Any other suggestions? If I don't start getting more sleep soon,

I'll wind up either crazy, divorced or locked up!!!

All kidding aside, I need help!!!!

Debby,

Are you feeding Zack solids and how often. I would recommend feeding

2-3 solids a day. Or increase oz of formula per feeding. Zack may

be going through a growth spurt.

Debby,

I would try giving cereal and formula at the last feeding before

bed. Then when our #5 would wake up we would watch the clock (the

hardest thing) for 5 min and let him cry. Then we would go in. We

increased this each day and he did learn to quiet himself down. Sam

weighs 22+ lbs at 8 months so he wasn't really hungry either.

Good luck,

Sam's mom

  • 4 weeks later...

Debby,

My son Ian is 5 1/2 months (18 lbs) and now he usually gets up around

4 -5 am for a quick feeding. We dropped the 2am feeding gradually.

At 2am I didn't rush in when he started crying and started feeding

him solids around 4pm. I'm still nursing so that's what is

suggested. He gradually dropped it. We had one night of alot of

crying, but then by the second nite, he cried for a few minutes, by

the third, not a peep.

There's an excellent book out there called " Healthy Sleep Habits,

Happy Child " - Dr. Weissbluth. I highly recommend it since Ian was

sleeping thru the nite (straight 9hrs) at about 4 months. Good luck.
