Guest guest
Try giving him a good large dose of vitamin C, like about a gram at least. Probably will work better than the Miralax. Keep up the magnesium...might take a temp. break from Zyme Prime if you are giving him that. Peace, Kathy E. > > Hello, > My 4 year old son is on day 7 with no poop. Guest guest
Mag. Citrate( comes in a capsule) and Activated Charcoal around bedtime, do not give within 1 1/2 - 2 hours of other supplements or medications. Guest guest
I just happened to come across an article. It talks about balancing calcium and magnesium. Calcium carbonate make constipation worse. They recommend calcium gluconate, orotate or spartate. Calcium gluconate is supposedly the best. As for magnesium, it specifically recommends that you use magnesium oxide or citrate. I'm using magnesium glycinate for my daughter and according to Kirkman's supplement brochure, glycinate does nothing for constipation. I going to add citrate for a while and see if that helps my daughter. Guest guest
> > Hello, > My 4 year old son is on day 7 with no poop. Lots of magnesium works in my house. Also high doses of vitamin C can work. Other ideas here http://www.danasview.net/constip.htm > He's on Super Nu Thera, magnesium, and enzymes. How much magnesium? Does he drink milk, or eat apples, bananas, rice, or wheat? Those are commonly constipating foods. >>I called our ped, they told me more miralax. Miralax can be nasty, so best to find the cause of the constipation as soon as you can http://www.danasview.net/miralax.htm Dana
Guest guest
My son has always had issues with constipation. Miralax works (but I'm trying to get him off of it). If it were my 3 year old -- and it had been 7 days, I would probably go with an enema by now. Miralax takes 2 days +/- to work. Here's the protocol I just got from a new ND. /message/95440 and all the stuff I've tried for him /message/49492 (READ the whole thread) Forgot to mention magnesium baths too. > > Hello, > My 4 year old son is on day 7 with no poop. Guest guest
Miralax for more than 2 weeks is not recommended per the information about the product. For us this was the WORSE intervention I have ever used!!! My non-asd son (now 5) had horrible issues on this, plus drs do not prescribe this correctly! It wasn't until my third doctor (second ped gastroenterologist) that told me that you can dump a gallon of Miralax into a person and it will do NOTHING to existing stool! It only works on new stool. If it comes out it is leaking its way through. So your doctor who is recommending more Miralax falls into that idiot drs category with not knowing how to prescribe a med properly.....sorry! My ped and 1st ped gastroenterologist told me to do the same thing.... and it didn't work! We needed to use a Fleet enema for several days to get all of it out. The colon stretches too much to be emptied completely after one enema....IMO, I would try for at least 2-3 days. You really need to keep things like pudding for at least several months (6 months recommended by the 2nd ped gastro) to shrink the colon back to normal. We use enzymes, supplements, 's Aloe Vera Liquid (tastes like water), fish oils (to keep things slick-like mineral oil---don't use that), magnesium oxide works like Miramax as it draws water into the colon, we diluted Apricot Nectar with apple juice and fiber through foods or supplement. We have used a lot of other interventions, but these worked well for us. You need to get it out so he is not withholding anymore, because this will continue to cause problems for you in the future. Please e-mail me offlist if you have any other questions.... we have been through a lot since birth with this and from age 3 to 4 1/2. Guest guest
What has worked for us, and a friend of mines child, is Primal Defense by Garden Life. You can find it in about every health food store. 2 scoops mixed in juice and my son was unblocked 20 minutes later. orelindel <whatmattersmost@...> wrote: I just happened to come across an article.
