My son is markedly deficient in Tryptophan in spite the fact that we give him

a lot of turkey meat.

So when we ordered his custom Amino Acids (metabolic Maintenance) they used

their base line formula (without 5-HTP) and added 1 gram (1000 mg ) of 5-HTP

to what seem to be a supply of 2+ months. That means my son is getting a

maximum of 15 mg of 5-HTP per day for a 32 lb child. Does that sound right?

Also the same supplement delivers about 150 mg of Taurine daily, Is that

enough?

Thank you,

Haleh

It really depends on your child. As with anything, start slowly for several

days and document what you are seeing and then increase. We also do all of

our dosing through out the day so it can stay in the body better. My son

who is 60 lbs gets 25 mg of 5-HTP in the AM and throughout the day he gets

750 mg of Taurine a day. I would say that the max Taurine to give him per

day would be 400 mg based on his current weight and the #'s I am using from

Dr. Neubrander's supplement review information. I believe Kirkman Labs

sells Taurine separately too if you need to increase it.
