Why is 3 weeks the magic number? Does the gut begin to heal, or is the

system just more cleaned out, or something else? Just curious.

Hi Dorris

Check message #80316. gave a really great explaination to me

about the 3-4 week " magic time period " ....something about cell

turnover and healing etc. I think.

thanks . Here is the relevant part:

" his gut could still be damaged after just 5 weeks. Gut healing

and damage can start right away. Allow about 3-6 months for typical

gut healing. I looked up actual cell growth rates. I takes 5 days

from a new gut cell to work its way up to the tip of the villi. It

takes about 3 weeks to 28 days for total gut cell lining turnover

(which is really interesting that we have that 3-4 week period turn

up again). These are general guides but let you know some of the

physiology going on.

It is like a cut on your skin. It starts healing right away, and you

can see it healing, but it still takes some time for all the

tenderness to go away and new skin to come back. "
