Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I received an e-mail the other night from someone who wanted to give information about a product that is very good for eczema. She was hesitant to post the information herself because she works for one of the band companies and was afraid that her personal endorsement of the product would be taken as an endorsement from the company that she works for, which it is not. So I have agreed to post on her behalf. As it turns out I know the product that she e-mailed me about. The product is called Bag-Balm....way back when I was a child I had goats and Bag-Balm was a wonderful product to use on the chapped udders of milking does. Consequently, I found out for myself the wonderful healing affect that it had on my own severely chapped hands....I am one of those people that suffers from " winter itch " . Here is what was e-mailed to me regarding this person's own personal experience: " My oldest daughter is now 19 and when she was a baby she used to get eczema on her feet so bad that the skin would crack and bleed. Sometimes it would be so bad that the poor little thing could not even walk. I remember one day she was walking on her heels. It was terrible. My next door neighbor at the time saw her and came over with a product that she used on her children. I started using it at night, putting it all over her feet and putting white socks on when she went to bed. Depending on how bad it was at the time, it would be gone within 2-3 days. When my 2nd daughter came along, she would get diaper rash. I would put this on her and the next diaper change 3-4 hours later, the rash would be gone. Before I ever used it for diaper rash, I asked my pediatrician if it was safe. He said it was and he was amazed at how many people had been asking about it. I have 4 girls and used it on each of them , and still do for cuts dry skin etc. I don't know if people are still using it as much now or if it was more prevalent where I lived in Boston. I still buy it and use it to this day. I use it for everything , cuts, dry skin, chapped lips.- Its Wonderful. Now that I live in Florida, I have been finding it at WalMart. The name of the product is Bag-Balm. It comes in a square green can. The reason that most people have a problem with it is that on the outside of the can it says for veterinary use only. This was originally made for using on cows with the milking machines so there was no chapping. They do sell it now like I said at Walmart an d Walgreens, CVS, . The can usually costs around $5.00 at Walmart.I hope that this information can be useful for someone. (or everyone) " Now she is right, this was a product that at one time you would buy in feed stores....but I can also tell you most people that used it for their livestock also used it on themselves...myself included as well as several other people that I knew that kept goats. I have been following the recommendations for dry skin carefully because i has horribly dry skin. I have tried EVERYTHING...not even Cortisone cream works. I plan on looking for Bag-Balm now that my memory has been jarred and I remember how well it worked on my own chapped, bleeding skin. Happy New Year everyone! Guest guest
Do you know where in Wal-Mart to look for this Bag-Balm? Would it be in the Pharmacy/Beauty area or with pet supplies? I will definitely go look for it! Guest guest
Belinda, If I remember correctly, it is kind of greasy...much like vaseline. But I am going by what I remember from 15 years ago (WOW I just realized I am getting old!! YIKES!) I plan on picking some up tomorrow, weather permitting, so I will let you know for sure when I have it. Guest guest
I think I spotted some in a small tub with a black and white cow-print on it in the "expensive" lotions area. kendra Jaya Dong wrote: , I would look in the Pharmacy/Beauty area....probably around where the keep stuff for chapped lips or dry skin.
