Guest guest
Hi Colleen, Nice to hear from you. I know this is such a hard decision for you. You'll know in your gut what's right. If you are seeing improvements with re-positioning, then you might want to try it for a bit longer. Take pictures of Owen's head from the top, each side, front and back. Compare these pictures in about a month to six weeks to see if there is any improvement. This way your mind wont be playing tricks on you, and you wont have to second guess what you think you saw a month ago. Also keep in mind that time frames are important. Make sure you look at the photos in month or 6 weeks. If you wait too long, you're losing valuable treatment time. At 6 months of age, I don't think you need to panic right now, but it is prime time to get started. I know you already know that it's OK to start closer to a year. Good luck with your decision. Keep in touch! Kendra apurcell@... wrote: Hello everyone, I haven't posted here in a while because I essentially had not too much to report. On the 22nd of December, and I took our six- month-old son Owen to see our family doctor to find out what she thought could/should be done about his plagiocephaly. She says she has seen great improvement in his head shape since he was two months old (when we first noticed it and began repositioning) and since we started the physical therapy (just two months ago). I have seen the difference too but I wonder if it is enough and if the improvements will continue without a band. Our family doctor has referred us to a local pediatrician because she wants us to get the opinion of someone who has seen more cases of this than her. She also has no problem with referring us to a local plastic surgeon if we do decide to use a band. So, we are going to go to the pediatrician and then make a decision on whether or not to pursue the band. My husband and I are having a hard time deciding what to do, it seems like each day we change our minds about what to do, continue with repositioning or pursuing a band. Anyway, we will see what the ped has to say and take it from there. Thanks for all your past insight and info. Colleen
