Guest guest
What test did you use to determine his copper level? Does your house have copper water pipes? Does he eat lots of foods high in copper? Check his supps to make sure he's not getting copper from them. S S
Hi everyone,

My name is . I am new to this group. I have a 4.9 YO boy with
autism. He regressed at around 18 mo. He was on 6 mo of antibiotics
(between 15 - 21 mo) for misdiagnosed TB. Needless to say, this did a
number on his gut. He was vaccinated until age 3 when he was DX'd.

We have been chelating with oral DMPS since the end of Sep (high in
mercury, nickel , tin & tungsten), but I want to do ALA with DMPS. The
problem is, he is extremely high in copper. He has been on zinc and
molybdenum, but his metals test showed he was high on all 3 - copper,
moly and zinc. I am confused because I thought zinc and moly were
antagonistic to copper. Are there other supplements I could try to get
the copper down? Currently he is doing DMPS, NCD, MB12 shots, a myriad
of vitas, minerals and supps such as probiotics, CLO, Ketoifen to heal
gut inflammation and Nystatin among other things. He is GFCFSF and is
on a rotation diet.

Thanks,

_______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! Guest guest
You need to be clearer about the tests and what the exact results were. Andy > Hi everyone, > > My name is . Guest guest
We did a urine toxic metals test in September with DDI using oral DMPS with a 6 hr collection period Mercury 7.6 (ref range is < 5) - no surprise there Copper 0.55 (ref range .012 -0.12) Molybdenum 0.32(ref range .02 - 0.25) Zinc 2.1 (ref range .015 -2.5) not over the range, but it is on the higher end which I assume means he is getting enough zinc His sulfur was 1780 (ref range 280-1800)- does this have an effect on his ability to dump copper? He was taking 25 mg of zinc and 150 mcg of moly every other day until the metals test. Since the test, he has been taking 45 mg of zinc and 50 mcg of moly for 5 of 7 days a week. I was told not to give mineral supplements during oral DMPS days (2 days on 5 days off schedule). He takes NCD - 3 drops 3x/day on the 5 days when he is not taking DMPS. I am hoping this will keep the chelation efforts going. We do not have copper plumbing, do not use copper cookware and all supplements are copper free. Thanks for your help, > > You need to be clearer about the tests and what the exact results were. > > Andy > > > Hi everyone, > > > > My name is . I am new to this group. Guest guest
DMPS dramatically increases urinary copper excretion, this result does not mean he has high copper. In fact it is LOWER than I would expect. It also increases excretion of zinc, molybdenum and some other essential elements. This test has almost no meaning. If you are using the DMPS every other day, you are hurting your child. You must apply it at least every 8 hours or not at all. This is a basic chemical property of DMPS and does not change if you are seeing a physician who doesn't think professional responsibility extends to having to know what s/he is doing before prescribing. When using DMPS you give all mineral supplements all the time, you do not vary intake depending on chelation status. NCD doesn't chelate anything out of his body. 150 mcg of Molybdenum is generally not enough, 1000 mcg is more like it. You usually need 2-3 times that much zinc, too. Guest guest
I hope that wasn't a single high dose of DMPS, that's dangerous and poses a high risk of pushing mercury into the brain.
