Guest guest
Hey, I might as well throw on sunglasses at night, too. What's one more oddity in my life? =) If it works, it works! Guest guest
<<Was someone on this list talking about their child being sensitive/lack of sensitivity to the sun or light??? Kathy>> Hi, Everyone.....Kathy....Gareth is VERY sensitive to light. I read this article and will follow-up tomorrow. I am always looking for ways to make his life easier. Gareth will scream for his sunglasses in the car and will tell me the 'lights burn his nose'....even the lights in the house. He, too, has to blast the music in the car. I don't know where you and Irma come up with all the web sites you share, but I sure do appreciate them. Take care, Everyone. Guest guest
I am still having severe light sensitivity. The ARNP that I work with has ordered a saliva lab test Hormone Profile II which tests for E2, Pg, T, DHEA-S, & am/pm Cortisol. Due to symptoms we are focusing on adrenal issues. I went to the optomestrist and I do not have an infection but both eyes are REALLY inflamed. I was given a script for Tobra Dex to take 4 times a day. Tobra Dex has an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic in it. I have been using this for over two weeks. The redness is gone but the inflammation is not going away very fast. I am still having to double up on sunglasses on sunny days. Any ideas? Thanks, Melinda
Guest guest
Mercury can cause photosensitivity. Remind us if you have amalgams, if you had some removed (properly or otherwise), if you're chelating, whether you met counting rules. Beware of eye drops, some still contain thimerosal, I think. Do your eyes dilate properly? Sometimes that's at least part of the issue with light sensitivity, as much the treansition from dark to light, as the light itself. Guest guest
, I have three amalgams and two kids with mercury derangement and high arsenic per ddl hair analysis. I can not afford to get my amalgams removed at this point. When the optometrist put drops in my eyes she said that they are still glowing. I am not sure what this means. I will start asking more questions. I will start Vit C today. took a look at the results of my hair analysis (see below) in Sept and responded to my post. This is a copy of what she posted including the ddl results. The test does not meet the counting rules, however 7 to the right is unusual according to Andy's book. As I'm sure you know, a trial of chelation may give information that is not showing up here. Of course, you must have your amalgams removed first. The K/Ca ratio suggests a thyroid problem. Did the ARNP do thyroid testing? You don't have the classic adrenal sign, but if the thyroid is compromised, then your adrenals are likely struggling too. The Na/Mg ratio says you feel lousy - poor mood and energy due to low adrenaline production. According to Andy, taking any of the following may be helpful: tyrosine, TMG, folic acid, vit B6 and B12. The supp recommendations from your practitioner look pretty reasonable as a start, but adding the other ones I suggested in my previous message is important at some point. Cytozyme-AD is adrenal glandular. I'm not sure if this product is whole adrenal or adrenal cortex only, but since you have low adrenaline, it may not matter. I would question the multi-vitamin with iron - Andy doesn't recommend iron in mercury toxic people. If your ferritin is low, then perhaps a short course of iron will help you feel better - if not, I would skip it. You may want to read about this in Amalgam Illness. Starting supplementation may help you feel noticeably better pretty quickly. -- > >
I am still having severe light sensitivity. Guest guest
In addition the fillings causing light sensitivity, adrenal fatigue can do this too. Adrenal fatigue would be the result of mercury fillings anyway..sort of a catch 22. I noticed a great improvement in my eyes following filling removal, and finally the light sensitivity is gone with adrenal treatment. > > > >
I am still having severe light sensitivity. Guest guest
Hello, I was interested in your discussion of light sensitivity because about six months ago my son was getting some liver detoxification treatments using a cold laser and I was recommended by the doctor to have the same treatments to treat allergic sinusitis. I had just one treatment and had a very strong response with some major visual changes. I normally am nearsighted with a glasses prescription of 3.75 (right) and 4.75 (left). My vision improved to 3.00/4.00. In addition, I developed photosensitivity which has improved from the original treatment however it is still bothersome. I have read some of the notes that it can be due to adrenal fatigue or possibly vitamin A depletion or even loss of vitamin B2. I have had my eyes checked by two opthalmologists and both indicated that they look perfectly normal. In fact I had the retinas scanned on two occasions and it was indicated that for a 51 year old the vessels look very healthy almost like that of a younger individual. By the way I have a 15 year old son with autism who we have been detoxing for some time. Both he and my wife have high DHEA, low DHEA-S and he has high testosterone and low FSH. I have never been tested for these. I thought it might be of help to write this story and to ask for some thoughts. Also, I had all of my amalgams removed about three years ago. The lights which bother me the most are head and taillights of cars, signal lights, and direct sunlight. I just never remember these bothering me so much before. Generally the lighting indoors or when the sun is at my back is not a problem. I generally do not wear sunglasses unless the sun becomes intolerably bright. Thanks for any ideas you might have. Guest guest
I didn't notice a huge improvement in my photosensitivity during the year that I was on cortisol before amalgams were removed, nor during the year I didn't chelate. I have noticed a huge improvement with chelation. I don't need sunglasses to drive anymore. Used to need them outside all the time. J > >
I am still having severe light sensitivity. Guest guest
There was an episode of mystery diagnosis where a child had extreme light sensitivity (also craved salt and a few other oddities). I think it ultimately led to a diagnosis of a very serious kidney disorder. I would make sure a doctor is ruling out any serious conditions. If your child has more light sensitivity after IVIG, I would be concerned. - <iamlaurasmith@...> wrote: Hello, I figured I would ask the " experts " this one. My son has selective IgG def. with no other complications. (that we know of!) We started with IVIG, but after a few months we had problems with vein access. We have done SubQ for 5 weeks and love it! Here is my question. has always had problems with bright lights hurting his eyes, but it has gotten worse in the last month. He had his treatment yesterday, and we went to the pool today. After 30 minutes we had to leave because his eyes were hurting. We tried sunglasses and a hat, nothing worked. Is this a problem other kids with PIDDs experience? Could it be a side effect? If so, how do you deal with it? Also, has anyone else had a problem with thier children's teeth? 's teeth have gotten " dingy " and stained. His dentist said his teeth are more porous and stain easier now. He buffed his teeth and got the stains off, and drinks from a straw. One more thing. 's immuno thinks is the first kid in Alabama to do SubQ. Is there any way to find out? I would love to be a support person helping other parents with newly diagnosed children. O.K. That's all for now. Thanks, --------------------------------- Be a better Globetrotter. Get better travel answers from someone who knows. Answers - Check it out. Guest guest
My two homegrown children are both very light sensitive.? Both are also very pale skinned and have red hair.? Cody, has always had an issue with the sun since birth.? Now that he has some words, he screams " HOT " and " EYES " whenever we go out in the bright sun.? He will cover his eyes and rub them constantly while the sun is shining directly on him.? In addition, if he wakes up outside, he screams non stop for hours that his " eyes hot " .? We've learned NOT to wake him outside or to let him fall asleep if we can't get him home before he would wake up.? I did find the post about the " needing extra salt and other oddities " very interesting because Cody CRAVES dog food!? I know it's very salty so maybe that's why.? I have to watch him constantly to be sure he's not eating the dog food whenever he's alone.? In addition, he will readily sit out back and eat fists full of potting soil or entire giant chunks of sidewalk chaulk.? What do you think that's all about??
