I got one about 5 years ago which has gotten light, almost daily, use. It seems

to be

built well. Sometimes you can find them on eBay for $50 or less.

This is great, Rene, I have heard those touch screens work well. Congratulations

and I look forward to hearing all the future improvements.

I have tried two brands. The product from

Dell did not last 3 months. The replacement

I got from them did not work either. I bought

a CRT from Elo that works great for about $350

I agree. This is a God-send for my guy (and me)!

He spends

hours per day on the computer playing games.

Ours loved all the Reading Rabbit (I think) software. Another big hit for us was

Barbie, but don't think that would actually work for you :-)

Thanks, all, for your advice. I think we're going to take the

plunge! Now, does anybody have any good software suggestions? :-)

You never know, he's been carrying his sister's Cinderella figurine

around all week! Barbie might be just the thing.

just go to:

www.sesamestreet.com

There are lots of games there to start with

and of course you have...

www.nick.com

www.noggin.com

I have the 3M's touch screen ($75 on eBay) and would you believe as soon as I

got it...he had no interest in the computer. After a few weeks of turning it on

and me using it...he started pushing me off the seat so he could get in

there....

So play around with some games online before you head out and buy software &

games at $20 a pop. See what interests him/her first. I do like the " Jump Start "

series software.

My son loves Sweet Streets that we buy at Target, which are mostly

pink and targeted toward girls. He uses them for lots of pretend

play. In this picture, he made a house with Lincoln Logs, and then

furnished and populated it with Sweet Streets furniture and people.
