But the bottom line is that unless the total of all expenses claimed on Schedule

A, minus the 7.5% of adjusted gross income equals more than the $10,300

standard deduction, then there is no reason to itemize, right?Line 40 of the

1040 states to put in itemized deductions or standard deduction. Married filing

jointly is 10,300 bucks.

I'm still going to do a practice schedule A just to see how close we come to

10,300 but I don't think we will be over that. I could add up every single thing

we could possibly deduct but I don't think we would reach that.

So let me get this straight - we CAN claim supplements, but only if

they're prescribed? This link from the Hewitt.com link that

someone just posted says:

" You cannot deduct expenses for cosmetic surgery, dancing lessons,

diaper service, funeral expenses, health club dues, maternity clothes,

nonprescription drugs, nutritional supplements, teeth whitening, or

veterinary fees. "
