Guest guest
It sounds like it might be the flagyl. My daughter is extremely intolerant of meds, particularly when she's got any sort of GI issue already or anything strong. She used to violently throw up even Peptizyde AFP before she could swallow capsules. Even if I mixed it in frosting, the AFP and everything from half that day would be back later, on days when it tasted bad to her or her stomach was otherwise not in its best shape. It can be part of the GI component of autism to have a very sensitive stomach to those sorts of things, and Flagyl isn't known for being a mild drug (although that's what makes it effective). She also will always throw up anything that was nasty going down, even much later. If it can't be made some way that doesn't taste horrible, no matter how much she tries to keep it down, even after hours, usually she can't. What seems to happen is that her stomach goes into some sort of spasm and it shuts down her GI system at that end. So she experiences very delayed gastric emptying, and then eventually everything from around that time will come back up, sometimes even the food from the previous day. Amy > > Hi, > If anyone has any insight into this I would appreciate it. Son was dx w/ Clostridia. Tried Compounded preserv free Flagyl / metronidazole. Appetite significantly decreased so much we stopped the Flagyl on the third day (today). In the afternoon son threw up (does not usually happen, he is not sick). Had nothing solid to eat in about 30 hours. In throw up (so gross I know - sorry) were several little oval " balls " about 1/2 the size of a dime. We examined some of them and they were the consistency of soft play- doh. I hypothesized that these were the supps that we'd given via syringe (ex. magnesium glycinate, folinic acid, vit c, P5P etc.) that had somehow sat in his stomach and were not digested - perhaps due to the Flagyl? Have never seen anything like this before w/ my child or any other. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Did the Flagyl cause it? > Thanks, > > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
, Did you give extra pro-biotics when on the Flagyl ? Could be that it worked really well and dead/rotting yeast made him lose his appetite and it slowed/stopped his digestion. Next time you give Flagyl, give Candex and other enzymes to break down the yeast so it doesn't lay around in there. Another possibility is that he just got a bug, we all just had a weird flu a couple weeks ago, we puked and it stopped all digestion for us for a few days, we had stomach pain for a few more days and then it slowly went away. No real fever, but just generally felt like KR@P. We pretty much just gave extra Vit-C, not as much as you would for a cold, and rode it out. Good Luck ! Guest guest
The stomach bug is going around. It probably doesn't have anything to do with the Flagyl. Just bad timing. Keep him hydrated and watch him. Hopefully, it will pass quickly. Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared.
