I should add we gave him something he was allowed to chew on. He called it

" green chewy. " It was actually called Ark XT Grabber. If you do a search alot

of places carry it. If he chewed or mouthed in appropriately we took it away

and handed him his chewy. After a while we could just tell him " go get your

green chewy. " Finally he would just get it himself when he wanted to mouth

or chew. That's when I learned that zinc could help and added to his

supplements and increased it a bit. It finally stopped all together.

More zinc. Divide the zinc up in to 4 doses over the day. This worked

so well with my sand/crayon/pencil eraser eating son when he was 2

years old. Stopped it like a sledge hammer! This doesn't work for

everyone, but it is worth a try.

Did the PICA start after chelation started?

Would also love to hear responses on this subject. My son has done this

since he regressed into autism.

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to treat pica? my son is

eating bark, rocks, plastic and mouthing some toys. He is 5 yold. We

are chelating at the moment (had very high mercury etc) with ALA and

NCD and have been using NCD and other chelators for over 12 months.

He is on many supps including super nu thera, zinc, minerals, candex,

probiotics etc. He also seeks out charcoal although doesn't seem to

have any gut bugs or yeast at the moment. Any advice would be

appreciated.

Thanks

Adding zinc works for many kids.

For my #3, he did this when he was eating foods or supplements not

tolerated, and when he had a yeast overgrowth issue. Recently, bad

bacteria has also caused this.

Because he is chelating, try increasing his yeast protocol, see if

that helps.

Is it just the mouthing or does he also stick his finger in his nose

or hands down his pants? Sometimes it could be parasites. Cina

homeopathic worked well for us in this area. Also, is it possible

he's getting his 6 year molars? Our son got them roughly one year

early and lost his two bottom teeth once he turned 5. He mouthed then

because of the pain. If that's the case, homeopathic chamomila does

the trick.

Best regards,

Debbie

Hi Debbie

Thanks for that. No he doesn't stick his finger in his nose or

hands down the pants. It is more that he seeks out and eats things

like bark, charcoal etc. He also likes to chew on rubber/plastic

etc. He has been doing this ever since we started chelation so I am

thinking it is a lack of zinc or extra minerals. Can't see any

molars coming through, but will take note of that one.

Thank you for the tips.

Have you told us what his diet (of edible items) is like? What chelator, dose,

route, dosing schedule you're using, and how much he weighs?
