Guest guest
Hi All, We are chelating my son using oral DMSA following Andy's protocal. He is about 43 lbs and his dose is 12.5 mg every 4 hours 3 on (16 actual doses) and 11 off. We just completed round 13 this weekend. We are using a DAN Dr. during chelation and he is fully aware that we are following Andy's protocal. Every 4th round, we do a urine toxic metals test and blood panel. With every urine test, he has shown to be excreting lead and mercury. For the first two tests, both lead and mercury were in the elevated (yellow) range. On the last two tests, lead continues to be elevated and mercury is within the reference range but still coming out (3.7 with a reference of 5). We have seen some gains, although we seem to be doing a lot of up and down. Possibly, that could be yeast. I would like to add ALA into the mix now. Of course, our DAN Dr. does not want us to add ALA yet. He has said that it is too dangerous to add it yet since he is still excreting so much lead and mercury on each test. His plan (DAN's) is too continue at the dose we are until the urine toxic metals test doesn't show much excretion. Then to up the dose to 25 mg and do that until the test dosen't show excretion. He wants to follow this plan until we dose at 100 mg with no excretion. I have no intention of ever giving my son that much DMSA. My husband INSISTS on chelating with a Dr. I've tried to explain to him that adding ALA is safe. I know it is safe to add, but why? Can anyone explain to me the science on how it is safe? How will we not redistribute the body load to the brain? Should we hold off adding ALA since he is still excreting so much from the body? Should we hold off adding ALA since he struggles with chelation on some rounds? Any words of wisdom on how I can convince my husband to add ALA? My son's biggest issue right now seems to be apraxia and I am anxious to see if getting the mercury out of the brain will help his language development. THANKS so much for any guidance!
