Guest guest
Probably the only way to find out is to give a very small dose, 2 mgs or so. Some kids have high sulfur, but still tolerate Ala. [ ] ALA question Can someone please tell me if you can give ALA to a child who is extremely reactive to supplements with sulfur. She cant tolerate taurine, glutathione, epson salts, etc..in any way. I want to start ALA but I do not understand its structure and how it is related to sulfur. Thank you for any help.
Guest guest
We are doing TD DMSA after trying oral. When I placed my first order with compounding pharmacy I was given some advice to wait on the ALA for a few months. We have been doing td dmsa for three months and we are getting metals out (lead, merc, arsenic). My doctor origianlly had my son on 100 mg of ALA one time a day during oral dmsa. I know that this is completely wrong, my question is should I start ALA at 1/4 mg per pound of body weight now? Also how do I find ALA in small mg amounts? TIA
Guest guest
You can start Ala at 1/4 mg per lb. You can find 25 mg capsules at www.vrp.com and divide the capsule. Guest guest
Thanks , that would be me. Mag deficient and potassium deficient. I cannot take additional potassium due to a contradiction with a muscle disorder..lets' just say it makes me twitch and in a lot of pain. Grrrr... I did stop the ala yesterday as I had no idea what else to do. I am finishing the round out with dmsa alone. I was able to find an archive saying someone remembered Andy saying that people who cannot tolerate any ala are essentialy very toxic. (who knows) Taurine...next on my list! > > > > I posted on adult site but it can take a day or two to get any replies. > > > > I just started round 9 today for myself. dmsa 12.5mg and ala 5mg. > > > > I had tried dmsa/ala once before maybe on round 5. I am not sure I can take three days of a > headache.... This was a yeast headache for me. Try increasing your yeast protocol, see if that helps. Interestingly, after about 3 months, it was a bad bacteria headache. I eliminated the yeast killers [including probiotics] and the headache was gone. So if you have a good yeast protocol, it might be this. Dana
Guest guest
> Dana - how could you tell a yeast headache from a bacterial headache? > Does it feel different or are there other symptoms that would go along > with one or the other? For me, they were pretty much the same. Here is how I figured it out: In the beginning, I took ALA with several other supplements plus one GSE tablet [the B vitamins and anti-virals, etc, caused yeast also]. I take most of my supplements in the evening, because they cause narcolepsy. I started waking up in the middle of the night with a headache, and taking another GSE would knock it back. So then I started taking the supplements with two GSE tablets, which worked well for a while, but then I started waking in the night with a bad headache again. The first time this happened, I thought the yeast was getting worse, so I took another GSE tablet in the night, and my headache was MUCH worse in the morning. So the next night, I went back down to one GSE tablet, which worked fine. Several weeks later, I woke up with a bad headache, so I took an OLE capsule in the night [which works on bacteria and viruses] and the headache was gone in the morning. So I started taking Candidase and probiotics with the supplements, which worked for a while. After a week or so, that did not work either. Now, I take all supplements without anything. I do still need No-Fenol enzyme, but I have to take the No-Fenol with Virastop [also works on bacteria as well as viruses]. If I just take No-Fenol [which works on yeast], I will get a bad bacteria headache. Taking probiotics will also cause a headache. If I eat a LOT of sweets, like I did over Christmas, then I take one No-Fenol or Candidase and it works to eliminate the yeast problem. Otherwise, no more yeast! Which is VERY nice! Try taking even more antioxidants. Nell
