Guest guest
NEUBRANDER!!!!!! I live in Ga. and Fly in to see him! It's WORTH IT!!!! He is in Edison, NJ. B. Mother of Jake-My Hero- 4.5 yrs. old, Diagnosed Autistic January 12, 2006 I Live it, Breathe it, Sleep it, and Dream it [ ] Need Doctor in Northern NJ I just came from the pediatrician and she has suggested that I see a Dev. Pediatrican and also a Pediatric Geneticist...who can guide me through various tests (related to autism...) and their interpretation as she said she might not be giving the correct interpretation and guidance (like for eg the Org.Acids Tests, yeast issues, gut problems, etc...) .Any suggestions/recommendations?? Would these doctors really be able to address these issues?? Is a DAN doctor the only solution?..How about a nutritionist? I need someone who can give me authorization for the various tests. Any recommendations for DAN doc and nutritionists in Northern NJ. Meanwhile I have started giving him probiotics, GSE , avoiding all junk food including sugars...but for me to get the CDSA test, metal testings, IgG/IgE, I need a doctor... Guest guest
I just moved out of central New Jersey. We used to be a patient of Dr. Nuebrander. You may not get Dr. Nuebrander but will get one of his assisstants. I have mixed feeling about the services offered -- mostly negative to be honest. One of the worst things is the AMOUNT OF PAIN IN THE !@# PAPERWORK! Dealing with my son's autism was bad enough -- dealing with the project of paperwork was horrible!! Treatment of parents is also sometimes horrible. If you don't follow the 1001 rules the office has, the office can FIRE the patient. Yes, they can and will dump you! Lots of the staff -- probably the majority are Dr. Nuebrander's family -- so you can imagine they type of customer service you receive! Every so often you get an email with " new office rules " . Also, the office pushes MB12. While MB12 helps many kids -- it does not help all kids. When a product does not work, you should not dwell on it -- move on to the next treatment! They also advise you to buy expensive products -- like Dr. N's supplement powder -- $75/month. On the positive end, Dr. Nuebrander is very experienced. The printed advice the office gives after each visit is very helpful. If I were you, I would select a DAN -- but not Dr. Nuebrander. The DAN should send you to a good Genetic specialist who is experienced with autistics. Good luck. ratlenhum@... wrote: Ditto, I totally agree. I drive 2 hours from eastern Long Island. Guest guest
actually,...... There is no firing of patients anymore and the paperwork wasn't so bad to me! It's for 4 months and I personally , will continue to do even tho it is no longer required....... It is VERY helpful to me to see for myself all the little things going on you would normally miss in the mix with all the big things! I have found his staff to be AWESOME!!!!Not only do I get answers during the day, but someone checks BIOCHAT several times a night to see if anyone needs help or has questions. ( I personally have never sat in the chatroom for more than 15 min w/o Rick checking in to see if anyone is there needing help.) When you realize how many hours (and days) they put into helping our children, I would think it would be easy to understand they expect the parents to be just as committed! I have been SO happy with Dr. Neubranders office! I have followed everything to the " T " and have seen remarkable progress! I'm so happy with my decision! It was the best thing I have done for my son! And BECAUSE of the DETAIL , I feel they have been able to help my child come SO far so Quickly ! If I had not done that paperwork the way he requested (cut corners) how could he possibly do his job ??? I have done the work and SAVED alot of money and aggrevation on both our parts! If I don't give him the tools he needs to make the best decision he can, I have not done my Job........I live in Ga, but THAT OFFICE IS WHERE I WANT TO BE!!!!! I am one person, but this is my opinion......... Do with it what you may......... Oh.....The supplement powder is 75.00, but you dont HAVE to use it.....It's a choice... I was using ASD-Plex before I went there and it was more than Dr. N's....... Wouldn't matter tho.... BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT!!!!! I'm SO happy with this office!!!! I wouldn't even consider being anywhere else!!!!! B. Guest guest
I thought several times before posting what amounts to a bashing of Dr. Nuebranders practice. I decided to write this because the folks here have given me so much that I felt I should be honest about my experience with Dr. Nuebrander's office. That's what this site is about. I respect your endorsement but respectfully disagree with some of the office practices. Its either Dr. Nuebranders way or the highway -- he prints that he can fire you. I can to a cut and paste here but I think that's enough. Those who love the practice are primarily those whose kids are improving on MB12. It also helps if you are a stay at home Mom to fill out all that paperwork. When things work out, the office is great -- but one of the problems with autism is that you need to try many different things. OK, now I'll go into specifics. Perhaps you got to see Dr. N himself. We were not that fortunate. We had an intern who I felt I was training! It was like we were learning about autism together. The person was real nice but I was desperate for an expert. When I first entered the good Dr's practice I heard about MB12, chelation, HBOT and other treatments. I told them that my son was almost 5 (the golden window was 1.5 months from closing) and I wanted to chelate but was too chicken-hearted to try it myself (I found this group a few months later). The Dr's office said MB12 is how we start -- period. Again, it was the doctors way or the highway. I could not get another DAN so we wasted several months trying MB12 which did little good. Eventually I tried other things like chelation on my own -- which pissed off the good doctor -- he wrote to me about the dangers of chelation ...but things for my son improved -- no thanks to the good doctor. Before you start any treatment, I think a kid should be tested -- for mercury -- hair test, gut issues, viral etc. No tests were ordered prior to MB12. I had to suggest testing from my independent reading! I had to suggest valtrex from my independent reading! When the big test boxes arrived from Smokies Lab and others, I did not know where to go with them -- labcorp, Quest? So I called the office and a relative answered (secretary) and told me to " just read the instructions " and if I spend too much time on the phone then I need to pay for a phone consultation. Eventually, I learned I needed to go to a hospital lab to have blood drawn -- I didn't know! I just needed help. To be fair, the women later apologized and said she was cranky because they were in the process of moving from a smaller office to a bigger office. Perhaps my experience would have been better had I received the services of Dr. N himself -- who knows? What I remember the most is the hours of paperwork. I recall my wife asking me what am I doing all the time -- I would tell her -- " getting ready for Dr N's appointment! " . mlb228@... wrote: actually,...... Guest guest
I am not bashing your experience at all. I am telling mine also......... 2.5 months ago, he decided to forgo the firing practice and only require paperwork like that for 4 cycles.( MUCH to my dismay) I will continue to do it. Maybe you think it is easier for stay at home MOMS-- I disagree. I have 6 children AND run a daycare 12 hours a day! There are NEVER enough hours for ANY life! I made a CHOICE. I don't discredit anyone else's choice..... I decided in the beginning (as MY son was also diagnosed very late!) not to bother doing it IF I couldn't give it my ALL! I am certainly NOT saying anyone else's ALL was any different. IT HAS BEEN HARD WORK--- IT HAS ALSO BEEN WORTH IT! I couldn't do my paperwork all throughout the week either.........Not even a little bit.... It wasn't easy, but, I felt if I did EVERYTHING that was asked, they could make MUCH better judgements in treatment. I personally, do not agree with phone consults when the doctor only gets informed about what WE consider important to discuss..... WE might miss things that REALLY ARE IMPORTANT to treatment. I did all my research for quite a while before deciding on a DAN! . I looked at 12 really hard, then talked to patients from each one before making a decision. Hands down, I kept coming back to this practice. I GET IT!!!! All of us have to do what we think is best for our children......... He may not have been for you and your family, and I respect that. He is , however, PERFECT for mine and I am VERY pleased. REALLY,...... I think this can be said for ANY doctor.... I wanted to give my take on his office for the same reasons you did. Being able to be honest on a site for all of us to make important choices for our children...I respect your decisions and hope you feel the same way. I am not at war with you or anyone...... Guest guest
I only know Dr. Neubrander from his lectures at DAN! conferences, but I can very much imagine your experience with him is not unique. He has done so much for many kids, but he does it one way. mB12 is his baby and he is very protective. He is not shy to say 'my way or the highway' in public, so I know he must be forceful in private, too! I'm happy to hear you gathered the guts to chelate (took me two years!). mB12 wasn't our miracle, either. Take care. Thank you for sharing; it is invaluable. While I do agree that if something does not help you child, you should move on to other things, I would recommend not giving up on that intervention entirely. There were a lot of things that did nothing for my son, or caused problems, but when I decided to figure out WHY those things did nothing or caused problems, I learned information that was VERY helpful for my son's recovery. Guest guest
I see nutritionist Peta Cohen MS RD at the Total Life Center. I love her. She looked at my son and his test results and taylored a program to fit what he needed. 201-541-7601 Total Life Center, 11 North Dean St. Englewood NJ 07631. Guest guest
I see your point Pam. I agree that many mis-communications occur with emails. I write emails to co-workers and out of 3 people who read them -- each may have a different interpretation. I wind up telling folks " I didn't mean it that way... " We need to think twice before hitting the send button. Yup, point well taken. noaholiviaian <phaselow@...> wrote: I'm glad you weren't offended. I only mentioned the writing in caps concern because I have seen so many arguements start on these lists when people misinterpret other's emails. I was trying to ward off a battle that actually wasn't brewing, I guess. Pam Well, I guess I feel like it helps to put the emphasis on correct words so there is no misinterpretation. It's really unbelievable how everything is offensive..... > B. > Mother of Jake-My Hero- 4.5 yrs. old, Diagnosed Autistic January 12, 2006 > I Live it, Breathe it, Sleep it, and Dream it > [ ] Re: Need Doctor in Northern NJ > > Just a kind note to those who of us in situations where we disagree > with one another... writing in capitals ('caps' for those lingo > folks) really does give an impression of confrontation, anger, > being 'at war', etc. It fuels the fire; even if you don't intend > to do so. > > This isn't just directed at you, (I do it, too). > > Thanks, > > Pam --------------------------------- Talk is cheap. Guest guest
> Point well taken. In my son's case, I believe his high testosterone would not allow MB12 to work. I do plan to revisit MB12 in the future. I wonder why MB12 does not work for other kids? Depends on why they have language issues. B12 worked for my son for behaviors, but really did not do much for language. He needed OTHER interventions for the most improvement in language.
