Guest guest
Even though it seems that he has not had any gut problems, I also thought this to be the case with my kids. I was wrong, they both have yeast issues. It became more pronounced with chelation. If I don't give them something for yeast along with probiotics daily, they both get constipated. Is he on probiotics? If so, it might be time to try Grapefruit seed extract or something for yeast. Most of us have yeast and don't even know it, and this is a common cause of chronic constipation. If I take my son off of either one of these he will need an enema in two days. Also, is he dairy free? My son cannot maintain regular bowel movements if he eats any dairy. It does not hurt to increase the magnesium and C along with this. My son takes 2 grams of C and he is 40 pounds. He also takes 400mg a mag but neither one cause him to have lose stools. So it would seem that a 7 year old could tolerate more of those. You can actually increase the C until he gets loose stools and then back it down until stools are normal. That would be his dose. > > My ds has been having constipation issues ever since we started > supplements in July. Guest guest
I use oxypowder and it works great. Guest guest
Thanks for all the replies! I think we may have a yeast problem after all. I checked his mouth and he seems to have a little bit of white on the roof of his mouth. I have never noticed it before, but he's not the most cooperative about letting me look in his mouth. I guess I will try the GSE and probiotics and see if that helps. What is an affordable yet effective brand of probiotics? Are the capsule forms tolerated well when mixed in something? He does not swallow pills yet. We have never used probiotics before, and the supplements we have bought so far are starting to strain the budget because we have had to change them several times. I will also try the prune juice in grape juice. I used to give diluted prune juice until he refused to drink it, but I never tried it mixed with another juice. I might be able to get him to drink it. Although he is 7, he only weighs 45 lbs. I have been concerned about thyroid issues since he has always been so small (very small when born, and autistic since birth), but I don't think my doc will order the tests without some symptoms showing. I have noticed that his temp usually is below 98. What symptoms usually present with thyroid issues that would be good justification for testing? His ped is an old school doc, and I haven't approached him about the mercury issue. I don't think he will be very receptive to it. Does anyone know of any docs around the Oklahoma City area that would be open to running the tests? There are several I would like to run, and I have insurance which should pay. We are doing chelation on our own, and considering the bad protocols some of the docs out there are using, I think I would rather keep it that way. I would just like to have a doc to run tests along the way. There are no DAN! docs very close to us, and traveling very far is not a good option for us right now. I think the parental experience on this group is the best resource I could have found, along with Andy's protocol. I've learned a lot, and have a lot to learn. Thanks for everything! Guest guest
You could do the temperature test for thyroid. Take the temperature every morning before getting out of bed or drinking or going to the bathroom. If it is 97.8 3 out of 4 days your child has a thyroid problem - this is from Dr. McCandless. > > Thanks for all the replies! I think we may have a yeast problem > after all. Guest guest
Not sure I can answer all your questions, but I will help with what I can. For probiotics we are using Jarrow capsules. They are about $7 for 100 caps. We got them at the health food store. Stick with probiotics that come in the refrigerator and have strain numbers in the billions. They seem to work fine opening them. We open and put them in with my sons' other supplements that he drinks. No pills here either. Yes, white tongue, or white anything in the mouth is a good indicator of yeast. I usually check my kids mouths when in doubt. A low morning temp is indicative of thyroid problems. As is skin conditions, hair loss, constipation, etc. Tell the doc to just humor you and run a complete thyroid panel not just TSH. Tell him just to ease a worried mom 's mind. Usually they will do it. You could also have the ped refer you to a pediatric endocrinologist who will know what to look for and what to test. You might also seek out some holistic docs are just try a younger pediatrician. But with his weight I would suspect something myself. My son just turned 4 and weights 42 pounds. Hope this helps. > > > > > > My ds has been having constipation issues ever since we started > > > supplements in July. Guest guest
If you want to knock the yeast down even more effectively, do something like this : First thing in the morning give 2 Candex or 2 No-Fenol or 1 of each. Wait ½ hour and then give a couple drops of GSE w/small amount of Orange Juice Wait at least ½ hour and then give large dose of Pro-biotics In the evening do the same thing just before bed. Guest guest
Why not take the magnesium levels way way up...orally using magnesium peroxide and transdermally magnesium chloride...and slowly start administering calcium bentonite clay......best clay is from http://www.naturesbodybeautiful.com/ they cannot claim anymore use for oral but its the cleanest purest substance you will ever find. It is the most natural way to heal the gut......if you are chelating with toxic drugs like dmps or dmsa you can be creating all kinds of problems and complications in the gut..... Guest guest
B " H I have used the Sonne's #7 Bentonite clay with psyllium seed as a drink...do you suggest substituting this one instead? Is it superior? How exactly? We've not yet started chelation yet, as we are trying first to get yeast controlled in myself and gut dysbiosis under control in my daughter. I'd like to hear more, please. Guest guest
Hi, My son used to have constipation issue, take vit C 500mg and probiotic helpls! It is advisable to take billions of probiotic instead of only 1 billion cfu as it really makes a difference. You can order online from newbegining, kirhman or custom probiotic. Guest guest
Hi, Custom probiotic has probiotic specially designed for special needs kids. If you all know of other better probiotic, do let me know as I have tried culturelle from new begining and D-Lactate free probiotic from custom probiotic and both are excellent. The only disadvantage is that culturelle has only one bacteria and D-Lactate free probiotic is not in capsule. www.enzymestuff.com/probiotics.htm#1 Cheers Agnes On 10/10/06, The Silvert Family <michaelsilvert@...> wrote: > > B " H > I have used the Sonne's #7 Bentonite clay with psyllium seed as a > drink...do you suggest substituting this one instead?
