Quite a bit of this description sounds like me when I had a kidney stone problem. What were the " signs of toxicity " that led you to drop these supplements? Why did you keep calcium, especially without magnesium? Have you ever tried IP6 [a demineralizer, eliminated my kidney stone problem]? Guest guest
You may want to try foot reflexology to help identify the location of her pain. Too much calcium can cause kidney stones. The kidneys are higher in the body but stones can cause pain as they make their way out of the body. Guest guest
I have had her on 600-800 mg calcium since going gfcf 8 months ago. I add extra magnesium a month before starting chelation. She started sucking on her lip and breathing deeply so I dropped back to the doses she had been on before, except I decreased the calcium. She is still getting magnesium from the Brainchild multi. I have not tried IP6. She fit the profile of excessive consumption of milk and dairy products. But when she went gfcf she did not get any calcium because of her limited interests. So I added a calcium supplement. Should I stop giving the supplement? Is there a test to give to measure calcium? She had a blood test 4 months ago and calcium was normal. Her hair test 3 months ago showed low calcium but high probability of mercury poisoning. Thank you, Jen > > My 5 year old daughter has had 3 rounds of ALA on 1/8 per lb dose. > > She was due for her 4 th dose this weekend but had a fever so we are > > waiting. My son was cf for over 2 years without any sort of calcium supplementation, and I still had to give high doses of IP6 for four months to reduce his calcium level. So just because she is cf, does not necessarily mean she needs a calcium supplement. Try removing the calcium entirely, see if you notice any changes. You might consider giving a few doses of IP6, see if you notice anything. >>Is there a test to give to measure > calcium? She had a blood test 4 months ago and calcium was normal. > Her hair test 3 months ago showed low calcium but high probability of > mercury poisoning. If increasing magnesium causes problems, that *might* be because it is helping the absorption of calcium when she is already toxic. I don't know of any tests that might give accurate info on this problem, except " test by observation " . Dana
Guest guest
How much IP6 for a 34 lb child? I looked at a few at the natural food store and they contained calcium. What brand did you use? Would this product cause problems during chelation such as removing other minerals that are not too high? Should I make an appt. with her pediatrician to rule out UTI or to confirm kidney stone before using the product? I stopped giving her calcium about a week ago. She grabs herself down there about once or twice a day and says it hurts. Then she seems fine a few minutes later. Also she seems not to want to urinate as much now. Enzymatic Therapy, which as I recall, does contain a small amount of calcium, because it is a naturally occurring ingredient of IP6. > Would this product cause problems during chelation such as removing > other minerals that are not too high? Yes, you would want to supplement with the other minerals, so it will only cause a reduction of the minerals you want to reduce. Guest guest
I am concerned about giving her more supplements because she had negative reactions to increasing Vit A, E, magnesium, and calcium when chelating with ALA. I had to drop down the supplements to below the levels she had before starting chelation. So if IP6 will remove minerals like ALA, what would I want to increase? I am nervous to add anymore Vit A or E. Would I have to experiment again to find the right level? My husband is no longer on board with all these changes since this most recent problem. Also I am nervous to go to her pediatrician because of the possibility of her considering the possible kidney stone due to chelation and adjusting minerals. How much GSE should I give her if it is a yeast infection down there? Currently she receives 1 drop in the morning on off days and 2 drops on the on days. Guest guest
Do you have any reason to suspect a kidney stone? Kidney stones are very rare in young children and are usually so painful a child would scream violently and incessantly. Also should have back or flank pain and very likely vomiting. Never heard of anyone grabbing perineal area in response to kidney stone. You may be nervous about seeing pediatrician unnecessarily. She may not have a kidney stone, she may just have calcium toxicity issues. My son did not have a kidney stone, but he was definitely calcium toxic. *I* had the kidney stone. > How much GSE should I give her if it is a yeast infection down > there? Guest guest
Can I put the GSE in the juice mix in the morning for school to give her at snack? Then the probiotic would be ok at 6 pm? Guest guest
No, I would not think it is a kidney stone either, because she is not always in pain. In fact the last 2 days she has not complained at all. But she has not always been able to communicate pain to me or earlier even feel much pain. I never really know how she feels, I just have to assume sometimes. Over the weekend we went to Carl's Jr. and she had fries with her enzymes. This was the first time we have intentionally given her trace gluten. I think she regressed a little, but my husband thinks I am seeing things. But I wonder if the lack of pain is real or if she just does not feel pain again. When ever possible medical issues come up I just get nervous. Guest guest
Have you found a good source of probiotic? When I read the labels carefully they're just a generic hype rather than the real mccoy.
