Guest guest
This is my NT mercury kid with adrenal issues. I posted on here about her eye problems lately. I have noticed that she has a barking cough. Usually we hear it at night, but ocassionally during the day. It is a dry cough, but she has had it for what seems like months. No cold symptoms otherwise. I asked her why she coughs so harshly, if she felt ill etc. She said it feels like a frog in her throat. She is not aware that she is coughing sometimes at night. Not an all night thing either, just once in a while. It seems odd. I put her on Echinacea as a 10 day trial. She did find and avoided one cold that had started up when we began. We finished our 10 days, and we have a cold now. (we just did a round this past weekend too, so eveyone has a cold now). I am apprehensive to start OLE with her, but with so many odd things that don't go away, like a cough, complaints of sore throats off and on...could she have a viral issue? If so, would OLE take care of this and how would we use it properly? By the way..No fevers. By the way, she is doing better with moods on adreanal twice a day, yeast aid, probiotics, multis. Thanks everyone!

I have noticed that she has a barking > cough. Usually we hear it at night, Doctors usually think about coughing asthma when there is a night time chronic cough. The way to get it diagnosed, if you want, is to wait for a major respiratory virus to come along and then take her in to a doctor who can measure lung function (it's just a simple machine that measures the volume of air they blow out from the lungs). Doctors told me that it's best to treat coughing asthma with inhaled steroids (no worries, it's a very low dose, and it heals the lungs) before the problem becomes more permanent. My daughter used an inhaler when young, but wasn't very compliant. My son only needed to after a major wicked virus once. Other things that helped my kids - a tiny bit of vaseline in the nose at night to prevent drying, sterile saline to 'wash' the nose whenever they want, clean washcloths always available to wash around their eyes, a humidifier in the room - but not too humid, minimizing dust in the house (especially their rooms). but ocassionally during the day. > It is a dry cough, but she has had it for what seems like months. I traced it to red dye I was eating. So consider she might have food intolerance issues. > I am apprehensive to start OLE with her, but with so many odd things > that don't go away, like a cough, complaints of sore throats off and > on...could she have a viral issue? It is possible. >> If so, would OLE take care of > this and how would we use it properly? OLE can help. I started my kids with 250mg per day and worked up from there. Watch for yeast, because viral " die off " can increase yeast. Dana

Guest guest
I do have a chronic cough. I think it depends on how much and what I eat. To the point of where they were treating me for bronchitis etc, but it was from the achalasia. Be careful, you can get pnuemonia from aspiration. Guest guest
Be carefull when you throw up every night like this as I have a few friends who did this and ended up with bleeding varices and ended up having emergency surgery to stop the bleeding. from the UK ________________________________ From: Follows <pdfollows@...> achalasia Sent: Sunday, August 9, 2009 5:10:07 PM Subject: Re: Chronic cough? Guest guest
Tell me more about this. If I have too much in the E at night, I am able to " spit " it up from the E. It is not actually throwing up--- throwing up seems to come from the stomach for me. What are bleeding varices? Guest guest
Bleeding varices are I believe bleeding nodules that are formed with extreme retching over time and are only stopped by tying off in surgery by endoscopy. I was told this by enoscopist yesterday when out of curiosoty I asked all about them and incidently they are a medical emergancy. frm the UK ________________________________ From: goldenmtgoat <egaira@...> achalasia Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 5:14:07 PM Subject: Re: Chronic cough? Guest guest
eva- varices are varicous viens of the ---- fill in the blank. most are familiar with them in the legs, but they can occur in the rectum, ie hemorroids, and esophagus. because veins have valves in them back pressure can cause these valves to collapse. blood then pools in the damaged area of the vein, result, see above. in the esophagus varicies can be a medical emergency as christine stated. you see people with alcohol abuse frequently with varicies of the esophagus. a girlfiend of mine had a brother who was an alcoholic he actually died from ruputured varices. with alcoholics long term irritation of the esophagus cause by the alcohol itselfs contributes to their development of varices and /or ulcers. there is also an genetic predisposition for weak vein valves. that is why some people have varicoused veins in the legs or hemorroids and some people do not. I would think vomiting repeatedly could create a situation similar to chronic irritation along with acid reflux. this in turn could result in weakened vein valves (varices) and/or ulcerations. I would watch for any evidence of blood in emesis (vomit) and notify a doctor if it is present. while the appearance of blood doesn't always mean varices, it could indicate irritation which could lead to varices formation. folks with achalasia already have enough problems. the goal is to minimize irritation, the acid using ppi and antiacids, to wrap with the myotomy or not to wrap, the vomiting associated with achalasia. this is why I believe the docs told our son no alcohol or caffeine, no friut juice...angela Re: Chronic cough? > > > " ......A person in this group suggested " throwing up " contents of the " E " > every > night before bedtime.
