I have not used this on my boy but Avandia is commonly used as a diabetes

medicine. It works by lowering fasting insulin level. Indirectly, the drug

will also lower testosterone.

Curious to know why you are thinking of using this?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has used Avandia with their kids? I know it

is similar to Actos. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I myself take Avandia. I just started it last week. I take low dose to prevent

the onset of full blown diabetes. I am borderline. It helps to regulate the

way insulin is used throughout the day to help prevent highs and lows.

I had my son on Actos a few years back. Actos is more or less a " cousin " to

Avandia. I didnt see any improvement with it. He also had some fluid retention

on it. It was harmless to try though just be careful about any fluid retention

in the hands and feet or any bloatedness.

Depends on his age. From my research and talking to Dr. Geier and others -- the

effects of lowering testosterone are minimal as long as the child is of

pre-puberty age. Negative effects of using a testosterone lowering drug

(Lupron) on kids of pre-puberty age resulted in a rash on the injection site for

a very few.

We have not had the reaction or any negative reaction thus far.

That being said, lowering testosterone AFTER puberty seems to have all sorts

of reactions -- aggessiveness being the worst.

And they probably won't take it off the market either! Look at all the research that has proven that synthetic hormone replacement therapy causes heart attacks, strokes and cancer and they are STILL giving it to our women!
