Have you tried DMG/TMG? This had dramatic effects for our son, For instance

he started to point spontaneously at 4-1/2 years--he started relating thing

A to thing B.

Subject: [ ] What has anyone found to help the most w/ADHD

behavior & maturity?

After a year of supplements and just starting DMSA (3rd round), I am

frustrated with what I consider no progress in my son's ADHD

behavior and maturity level. It really bothers me. I have been

homeschooling him, and I want to put him in 2nd grade this year.

But, I'm concerned about him doing his work and fitting in.

He likes to standup sometimes or ask questions or make comments that

do not relate to the topic being discussed. My mother thinks it is

because he has not been in school, but other homeschoolers don't

have this problem. My mother doesn't know that the doctor is

treating both my children for ADHD and autism (because the doc asked

me not to say anything, in order, to get objective opinions from

people).

I worry because other children go the other way when he is around.

He gets excited to be around other kids. He likes to touch them or

say things that they don't understand because he's off topic. It

really hurts me to see kids moving from table to table because he is

sitting at their table.

Can someone reassure me that he will get better? I'm beginning to

think that none of this is helping him. What supplements/treatment

has helped any or your children? My son is on....

MB12, 25mg, .05ml/3 days

glutathione cream, 1ml, just went from once a day to twice

Zinc solution

P5P w/mag

CoQ10, 60mg/day

Vit. C, about 2 grams/day

Folinic acid, 800-1600mg/day

Calcium, just starting a cal/mag liquid supplement

Cod liver oil

DMSA, just starting 3rd round, doc won't start ALA yet

Also, he gets speech and OT.

Is there anything else he should take that will help him?

I'll appreciate any advice!!!

Have any of the supps made any difference, good or bad? How much/how

often are you giving the DMSA?

I understand why the doctor wants objective views, but it may be more

important for you to have your mother to talk to openly. Make it your

decision.

He will! Sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to get there.

These can be helpful or very not helpful. If he's having trouble

remove them one at a time to check.

Looking at the rest of your list, he needs 400 iu of vit E and you

could consider adding 50 mcg of selenium. Check the supp file in the

Files section of the list for a lot more detailed info.

> DMSA, just starting 3rd round, doc won't start ALA yet

It can take longer than this to see real changes, hang in there. If he

hasn't had exposure to mercury in 3 months he can start ALA -- you can

tell the doctor what you want to do, remember he's working for *you.

You can do ALA yourself, without the doc. It's available at most HFS. For that

matter you can do oral DMSA without the doc, too. What dose and dosing schedule

are you using? What route (oral, TD, other)? Third round of chelation is a

little early to see much for some. What did his hair test show?

Just keep chelating. The social stuff, for most kids, takes a loooong time and

is many times the last improvement to come, or so I have heard.

Ours progressed at 3, from not paying any attention to any other kids, to

playing beside them, but not with them, to wanting to play with them but not

knowing just how, to fully functioning social skills, just 4 months ago after 15

months of chelation, long time.

Everything other skill with chelation appeared pretty steadily, this did take

the longest time.

Good luck,

Your son sounds very much like my daughter except she also has

issues with anxiety and trichotillomania (a hair pulling disorder

associated with OCD). My daughter is going into the 4th grade and

also likes to stand up at times in class. Luckly this is something

that is allowed in her school. A lot of the kids move around as

long as they continue to do their work. She also asks alot of off

topic questions. The teacher normally asks her to wait until the

designated time that is set up for talking.

As for the supplements, we are doing alot of the same things you are.

MB12

Zyman (perscription zinc)

Magnesium cream

folonic acid

clo

TD-DMSA

multi vitamin

In addition we are also giving her

selenium

Attentive DHA

probiotics

sacchromees boulardii

meletonin

gfcf

We are on round 3 of dmsa and have only been gfcf for 1 month. I

didn't think it was working until this week. All 3 of my kids had

an infraction. We had 3 days of tantrums and pulling her off the

ceiling. I guess what I am trying to say is even though we didn't

realize these things were helping, they were. It does take time and

I am anxious to see how things go this school year. I want to find

out if the teachers from last year can tell a difference.

My son's hyperactivity is settling down a bit now but we are on

round seven. About round five/six we noticed he was a bit calmer and

his attention span a bit longer. But we are using dmsa and ala

according to Andy's protocol. My son is also on Spectrum complete

and tons of vitamins/minerals. We also do not feed him any artifical

colors, flavors, preservatives etc. All natural and organic. Some

kids are very sensitive to chemicals in their food.

I think DMAE is good for focus. Try to be patient, it takes time. I

found it easier to handle once I accepted that my kid is not like

other kids, and I stopped comparing him to " regular " kids.

I just compare his own past behaviors to current. This seems like a

better gauge for him. Also, GLA seems to calm my kids somewhat.

I know it is hard, just try to focus on the small changes as

progress. And some kids never sit nice and quiet, no matter what we

do to them. You may want to find a playgroup that is made up of kids

like himself who don't mind being touched, etc. You can try social

stories to help with how to interact with others.

There are calming supplements that aid in focus. I cannot recall all

of them at the moment, just try researching ADD and alternative

treatments.

I've asked her about the ALA, and she said we would start that

later. I'm thinking after round 5 because she wants to do a urine

sample after that round. I want to do the ALA now, but I know she

likes to keep up with what works and what doesn't, and I don't want

to make her mad. ???

As far as oral DMSA, I can't get him to take pills. He is almost 7

and weighs about 60 pounds. We are using DMSA cream at 100mg. I'm

now giving it .5ml every 4 hours. The doc didn't want me to do it

every 4 because it disturbs sleep and she feels the benefits of

doing it every 4 verses every 8 doesn't amount to much to disrupt

his sleep.

The doc has not done a hair test, just blood. That showed that his

chromium, copper, manganese, selenium, and zinc were low before

starting the 1st round. Also, his magnesium is really low.

His aluminum was moderately high, but arsenic, cadmium, lead, and

mercury were all low. But, everything was below " normal " .

Should the hair test be done of his baby hair or from his current

hair?

Thanks.

I was going to say that the glutathione and MB12 seemed to help.

But, after your comment concerning these, it may have just been the

combination of everything. However, when we stopped the MB12 (trial

to see if he regressed) he seemed to regress, so we started it back.

I'll check the files concernign the selenium and Vit. E. His blood

labs were low on the selenium.

Thanks.

I was looking at your list of supplements and was wondering what is

Here is the protocol we used for hyperactivity, given to us by a nutritionist,

that worked within a week. It was explained to me that hyperactive children

require higher levels of nutrients, made sense to me. These recommendations

were for a 3 year, 36 lber, so you can adjust accordingly. As with anything,

start slowly with all supplements and work up to avoid digestive problems.

2 tsp. cod liver oil

1000 mgs or 1 gram calcium

500 mgs magnesium

B vitamins 3-4 times a day, or every 3 hours

for really hyperactive kids.

After three days on this regime our little one was able to sit still for 10

minutes at a time. The only thing I would add to the above protocol is Adrenal

Cortex Extract, 250 mgs 2-3 times a day. I think the adrenals of hyperactive

children are just shot.

Good luck,

Hi,

I don't know if you will find this helpful, as we are not chelating

yet, but for us daily epsom salt baths with MSM have made a world of

difference.

I add

2 cups of epsom salts

1/2 cup of baking soda

1-2 tsp of MSM powder

to warm bathwater, and keep him in it for 20 mins.

The days he doesn't get his bath, his attention level is very low,

and has a lots of verbal hyperness, and off-topic chatter.

The days he gets the bath, the chatter changes into coherent, slower,

on-topic conversation, and lots of better social behavior.

He's always had a huge stim issue with fans, especially pedestal and

table fans.. he doesn't look at it constantly, but feels a need to

look very frequently, and will talk about it all the time if one is

around.

Miraculously, giving him MSM took this problem away! I can exactly

predict, the day I omit the MSM, he feels a constant urge to look at

and talk about fans, but if given an epsom/MSM bath, he won't look

twice at a fan, and will happily go about, playing typically.

Take care.

My son needed several things for ADHD, only one of which was related

to chelation.

Anti-virals were VERY helpful for maturity level.

Many of these supplements tend to increase yeast. Do you have an

effective yeast protocol?

Left out one ingredient for the hyperactive children. We included, on the advice

of the nutritionist, 400 IU daily of natural d-alpha tocopherol Vitamin E. It is

dangerous to add oil to the diet without increasing E.

And I meant to add that the Feingold Diet is often crucial to keep

ADHD in check. See www.feingold.org.

True, a LOT of hyperactive kids react to artificial dyes and flavors. Ours, not

so much and this seemed to do the trick. However, about 6 months ago, my dd

bought one of those redder than red Slurpee, frozen things at Walmart.

She put our little one in her car seat, meant to give her a sip, got distracted

by a phone call and left her with it and she ended up drinking the whole thing!

My dd said that is the very last time she is ever buying one of those again :-)

That cured her for good.

Many people are on this list because a doc wanted to give their child

mercury-laden vaccines and they went along because they didn't want " to make the

doc mad " by asking questions or refusing...

Oral DMSA capsules can be opened and the contents added to a little bit of

liquid or food. Check the archives of this list for accounts of people who used

8 hour dosing, had regression and switched to 4 hour dosing and saw progress.

Most toxic metals stay in the blood only a short time or during current

exposure. They go to various other parts of the body (lead to bone, for

example) including the brain.

Any amount of mercury in the human body is too much, regardless of what they say

is " normal " .

A current hair sample will provide the most useful info as to what's going on

now. If the doc won't order it from DDI you can order it yourself (if you're

not in NY) through Direct Lab Services (DLS). If you mention this list they

will give you a discount.

Should the hair test be done of his baby hair or from his current
hair?

Thanks.
