Guest guest
We had this Jan, great improvements while on the round and for a couple days after, then would lose some improvements before the next round. We were doing the minimum of 64 hours for the first 5 rounds. What solved this for us was longer 3.5 day rounds. Also, I spoke to Andy about this and his recommendation was longer rounds of up to three weeks. We could never do that long of a round, but have done up to a week with good results. Even on the longer 3.5 day rounds some improvements would come and go and am thinking that for some kids that is just the way it is. The improvements would wane in and out and then just finally be there to stay. Glad your boy is doing well. [ ] Regression? We did our first round of chelation last weekend with DMSA/ALA for lead and other metals. He did excellent. Made huge changes. Was like a different kid. This lasted up until about yesterday. I noticed he has become fussy, defiant, and getting into things like he is 2 instead of 3.5 years old. Like pouring sugar all over the house. Dumb things he hasn't done in a long time. He is on GSE and Probiotics and all supplements on Andy list for Chelation. We are getting ready to do round two tomorrow. Could regression just be that it is time for another round? I know that lead comes from the bones following a round. So I am thinking he has released some into his body and is acting prechelation. Any thoughts? =======================================================
Guest guest
Any thoughts on doing the ALA for longer and not the DMSA. We do not have a docter to test and with the DMSA I am cautious on using it too long. We do need it for lead and some other high metals though. Maybe we will try to go longer this time instead of just 3.5. Hard though, he screams at night and refuses to take it, so we are pretty tired after just two nights. > > We had this Jan, great improvements while on the round and for a couple days after, then would lose some improvements before the next round. Guest guest
I bet you are tired, not getting any easier, huh? I think you can continue to use the Ala without the dmsa as long as the dmsa is given for the minimum of 64 hours. Others will chime in if I am mistaken. Be aware, that we and some others have tried using Ala alone, in the beginning, and the kids were pretty spacey without the dmsa. We can use Ala now without the spaciness, but we have done a lot of rounds. Also, with low dose dmsa, IMHO, you will know if there is a problem, long before it gets to be a big problem. Our little one, was on dmsa, her neutrophils did look low, and she looked bad. We took her off the dmsa, then did testing, and found it, so if you are pretty observant, you will see it long before it gets critical. Also, considering all the kids who use and have used dmsa, this is pretty rare, lucky us:-). And there are ways to prevent it, lots of zinc, and there is a product called Neutrophils Plus that we use by Biotech, that brought her neutrophils up to the middle of ref range, in just 6 weeks. Sorry not to have more definitive answers, but isn't it the usual way with this stuff? I generally do 5 or 6 day rounds with my son. He simply does better with that schedule. I've also found that after the second night I don't become any more tired. Perhaps two nights allows you to hit pretty much rock bottom, I don't know ;-) One of the things you might want to keep in mind is that the longer you chelate--if chelation is one of your answers--the less likely you are to encounter things like the screaming at night. Sort of a light at the end of a long tunnel. Anita
Guest guest
Anita, You say, you chelate 5-6 days. How many days off do you take? do you see constipation during " on " days? If so, how do you deal with it? I am asking coz, my 6yr old son is better on " on " days( 3days on, 4days off) , except for the cnstipation. We've done 3rounds with oral DMSA and am planning to add ALA this weekend. Thanks and regards, Anita Kugelstadt <mysuperteach@...> wrote: > > Any thoughts on doing the ALA for longer and not the DMSA.
