My son's lead levels have consistently gone down with chelation. Do

you have blood work done? If so, have you tested her blood lead

levels?

Have you tested/checked everything in and around your home for

lead/school? Your child is not drinking tap water at school right?

You could do a blood lead but keep in mind this only gives you the

previous three days of exposure. You are using dmsa on a frequent

low dose protocol?

We homeschool. I have tested water and her lunchbox. Our house is 6

years old and we built it, so I don't think it has lead paint. We

don't have the kind of blinds that have lead. What else is worth

checking?

She might occasionally drink from a public water fountain. I know

there have been problems with them in the Seattle schools (which is

not where we live), but I would say not more than 1 sip / week.

Yup. 17 Mg DMSA and 10 MG ALA 9 times/day, 63 hours every 2 weeks for

84 lb child.

Thanks,

What was on the land before you built your house? Gas station? Farm? Other?

I think it was apricot (or some other fruit) orchards until WW II and

then had a house on it previous to the one we built. We had some soil

testing done prior to building (of course only a few areas were

tested), but no toxics were found. That report said there had been a

gas station that leaked a quarter of a mile away, but we are not on

well water.

Are you talking about levels in hair or blood going down?

We have not had blood levels checked for 5-6 years. Then it was well

below a level that concerned the pediatrician. (I think it was 10% of

the lower end of the range that indicated officially poisoned.) Of

course, I realize ANY level of lead showing up is bad.

Also, she does not take any form of calcium carbonate, which I know if

also a potential lead source.

Thanks,

W.

P.S. Here are her hair test lead levels:

7/15/05 1.1 (just started chelation with DMSA)

9/23/05 2.0 (1st round of ALA on 8/18)

11/15/05 1.6

1/17/06 1.6

5/15/06 2.2

8/12/06 4.5

So, the level has gone from the boundary between green and yellow, to

the boundary between yellow and red.

I read somewhere that PVC pipes contain lead. We filter our tap

water & all the water we drink we run through a Britta & then put it

in the fridge.

, I've looked in Onibasu, and I've thumbed through HTI, and I can't find

it. I seem to

remember reading, somewhere, that as lead is released from the bones, subsequent

hair

tests can show higher lead.

Now, don't hold me to that. ;)

Here is some info

One thing that comes to my mind is to test the bathtub.

Wow, if it was an orchard, I would look for arsenic!

Arsenic went from low green to low yellow and back down to low green

over the span of her tests, so if she had much, it seems to be going

away.

While there are remnants of apricot orchards around, our property

might have ben a farm. Would that make lead in the soil more likely?

Thanks,

If there were an old house or barn there before your home, then yes,

there would be lead in the soil where those buildings were. A farm

over 40 years ago would have been using mostly lead paint. It

wouldn't hurt to test the soil. While she may not play in it, it

does get tracked inside, and travel in on the wind when windows are

open.

-this post Andy says that hair lead is usually higher in older kids as

that is where they excrete it.
