Guest guest
Hi Tina, If you are talking about Liver Life through BioRay, you can give it in juice or anyway your child will take it. I warm it in distilled water (doesn't matter though) and serve it like hot tea. It evaporates some of the alcohol and makes it taste pretty good. Others give it in fresh squeezed lemonade. The lemons are helpful in draining acids as well and cleansing the kidneys. I sweeten my son's lemonade with stevia or agave nector. I hope this is helpful. Guest guest
Thanks Mandi, YOu are awesome, as usual. The Liver Life does not chelate anything out of the body. It's a restorative for the liver. What happens when you use it with a chelator or with any kind of detox program is that your detox becomes much more efficient. Trying to detox with a congested liver is like trying to drive home during traffic hour. (My favorite analogy) If there is congestion on the freeway, it doesn't matter how big a vehicle you have (or chelator) you aren't going to be getting through very quickly. And the more things you try to push through, the more backed up it gets. But when you clear up the congestion (like LIver Life does for the liver), you will be able to get to where you need to go much more efficiently and with less aggravations. So what Liver Life does is assist the detox protocol you already have in place to be much more efficient. One of the things it does is restore a healthy pH. The absorption of nutrients is dependent on a healthy pH. Without a healthy pH, certain enzyme systems cannot function properly. Enzymes are necessary for every chemical reaction in your body and the normal activity of your cells, tissues, fluids, and organs. Many parents are reporting that their child's digestion has improved as well as their tolerance for new foods. Also they are able to decrease many supplements that their child needed before. Both these things happened with my son, Gavin as well. Here is the max dosing info: What is the maximum dose of Liver Life I can give my child? 40 pounds or less- max dose 30 drops a day. (15 drops, twice a day) 40-75 pounds- max dose 4 dropperfuls a day. (2 dropperfuls, twice a day) 75 pounds or more- max dose 6 dropperfuls a day. (3 dropperfuls, twice a day) Maximum dose should not be given as the starting dose of Liver Life. To avoid regressions and aggravations, it is essential to start with just 1 drop twice a day. (Follow Liver Life protocol for dosing instructions) Starting with a higher dose has been reported to cause flu like symptoms, aggression, irritability, regression in skills, rashes, inability to concentrate, and painful urinations. To insure your child gets the most out of Liver Life, start slow and ramp the dose up. If, at any time, your child shows aggravations, decrease the dose. If you would like to read the Liver Life protocol which has extensive directions on how to use the LL, please email me or join the BioRay group. All the info is there in the files. wtwilken@... Guest guest
Hi , This was asked not too long ago by another mom. And it's a great question. Here is some of the info on alcohol in herbal tinctures. My best, TamiW --------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Some information on alcohol used in herbal tinctures and the reasons for it. The word " tincture " comes from the Latin " Tinctura " - meaning herbal extract made with alcohol. Why were tinctures considered potent and safe herbal medicine throughout the centuries? One reason - tinctures offer the best way to extract and deliver nutrients in stable soluble form, optimal for absorption and assimilation. Another - tinctures retain volatile and semivolatile ingredients, usually lost in heat treated and especially reprocessed dry extracts. The importance of these ingredients for health beneficial action is hard to overestimate. Due to convenient dosing, tinctures are one of the safest herbal preparations, easy to adjust to individual habits and metabolism. High bioavailability, achieved through complete dissolution of the ingredients, is one of the most beneficial features of the tinctures. It is especially useful when the absorption of vitamins and nutrients by the body is reduced due to the natural causes or malfunctions of the digestive system. The tinctures provide an efficient delivery system and are able to assist with the nutrient absorption of the beneficial constituents. Tinctures are handcrafted in small batches from raw herbs according to centuries old recipes and are rested in glass until perfect. As a result, tinctures retain volatile ingredients, often lost in dry or processed extracts, and preserve bioactive nutrients in soluble form, optimal for their absorption and assimilation. The presence of carbohydrates not only improves tincture's taste, but helps preserve tincture's qualities and protect its activity. In fact, modern studies indicate that carbohydrates help enhance the stability of nutrients and biologically active ingredients, protecting it from the oxidation and precipitation. Differences between glycerin and alcohol extraction- glycerin will extract the following - sugars, enzymes (dilute), glucosides, bitter compounds, saponins (dilute), and tannins absolute alcohol will extract the following - alkaloids (some), glycosides, volatile oils, waxes, resins, fats, some tannins, balsam, sugars, and vitamins. Quotes from famous herbalists regarding glycerol extraction vs. alcohol extraction When you eat a whole herb you actually change that herb in your body so you can extract both water-soluble and insoluble materials. You get more of the available materials by eating the whole herb. But you can't chew or swallow enough herb, so you use an [alcohol] extract. " When you use alcohol to extract, you extract both the water-soluble and the hydrophobic compounds. You get a fuller range of compounds. If you want the most potent extracts that are most like what nature intended, you probably would use alcohol. " " Grain alcohol is the best substance we know of—that can be consumed— that dissolves the maximum number of [biologically active] plant constituents. That's one reason we use it in the extraction process. " Why we leave it in is another question. First of all, I think the less production you can do on a plant, the better. Number two, alcohol is a wonderful carrier. It increases the absorption rate of the herbal medicine. Third, alcohol is an excellent preservative. I've taken tinctures made in the 1940s that were still viable. I'm not so sure about products that have had the alcohol removed. Even an [alcohol] tincture's shelf life is debatable. Guest guest
Thanks, Tami, for your prompt answer to my question, maybe that's why they put so much alcohol in NyQuil, lol, I love that stuff, nothing better for a cold. I actually would love to give something other than the really yucky tasting phosphatidylcholine we are giving now. But the ingredients bring something else to mind that I have been thinking about and forgive me I am not trying to knock the product, and that is the matter of mushrooms. I have been thinking that if you have a yeast sensitive kid that giving mushrooms, which are really just molds, might not be the thing to do. I know mushrooms can be medicinal, but some kids are sensitive to molds, I thought. Am I misstaken? I didn't make this up but I did read about it in the new edition of the Baker/Pangborn book. Guest guest
Hi , This is a common concern with yeast sensitive individuals with Candida. However research, (I will paste some below) and the feedback we receive shows that medicinal mushrooms can be beneficial to the gastrointestinal tract. Parents have been reporting that Liver Life is helping them to get a handle on the yeast. This isn't an immediate reaction but something that happens after using it for some time. http://www.botanicalpreservationcorps.com/mushrooms_1.htm Maitake appears to be surfacing as one of the most promising natural healing aids with antibacterial, antiviral, antitumor and antidiabetic properties. It has also been found beneficial for lung disease, candida, and high cholesterol. The polysaccharide contained in the fungus is resistant to degradation by stomach acids and enzymes, making oral ingestion highly effective. One of the most popular edible mushrooms and well studied, potent medicinals. The vanguard of medicinal mushrooms. Renowned in the Orient for thousands of years. A powerful adaptogen and immunomodulator. Studies have clearly demonstrated Shiitake to be cholesterol reducing, antibacterial, antiviral, anticandida, a kidney and liver tonic. http://www.scielo.br/img/fbpe/bjm/v32n3/7733f2.gif In conclusion, the findings of this study have shown that L. edodes produces a fungistatic agent, which is able to control C. albicans multiplication. The agent is present both in the basidiocarps and in the mycelia, which is secreted in the growth medium. For a list of ailments helped by medicinal mushrooms, you can go to. www.fungi.com/pdf/pdfs/articles/HerbalGram.pdf I hope this helps.
