This is an update on my son. We have done 18 rounds. Well, sort of -

DH forgot to dose while I was shopping for groceries, so this

weekend's round was only two days. (I may have to strap an alarm

clock to my husband's forehead. Grr.) Thus, yesterday morning was

rough for my son. However, today has been pretty remarkable....

I have posted about our progress at rounds five and ten. We have seen

clear gains in many areas, only to see most of them disappear.

Receptive language and auditory processing fades in and out, rare

sentences tantalize us, islands of interaction are surrounded by

oceans of.... okay, enough metaphors. Sorry. However, we have seen

consistent growth in one area: gross motor skills. In the beginning

of January our son could not jump with both feet off the ground, or

climb/descend stairs upright, etc. Our OT says he had " severe

gravitational insecurity " , weakness around the trunk area, and loads

of vestibular problems. A round or two into chelation had him

actually jumping unassisted on the trampoline. A few rounds later he

was going up and down stairs upright without any help. He started

clambering onto the rocker from the arm side, like normal kids do

sometimes. Soon he was laying back in the bath water, and laying back

on the exercise ball, letting us roll him around a bit. Recently he

started bending over and touching his toes, and also doing an " arch " .

Last week, we got him to sit on a tricycle and even do some pedaling

in OT. During this week's session, he delightedly bounced a ball back

and forth with his therapist and then did SOMERSAULTS! Tonight on the

recliner he did HEADSTANDS!!! Headstands. At first I panicked, it

was so unexpected. Oh, he was so happy and pleased with himself. When

I called to my husband to say how amazing this was, my son

said, " MAZING!! " and looked at me with delight and pride.

I think I'll go do a headstand now. And some somersaults.

René

ps. even with the interrupted round, we have had two yeast-free

rounds - this is since starting EpiCor.
