Guest guest
My 12-YO son talks in his sleep, and I mean he carries on conversations. Unfortunately, I can't really make out what he is saying, only a word or two here and there. He does this almost every night. He tells me that he never sleeps and is very tired in the morning. I explain to him that he is asleep when I go to bed--that I know he is sleeping. He says he just feels like he isn't getting good sleep. Any ideas on what's going on? He handflaps excessively at times, but now he never does it around other people (only family members). However, once he starts handflapping and staring at an object, he has a hard time stopping. I've also wondered about whether he is having small seizures. He says that frequently he isn't aware that he is handflapping. He just doesn't know he is doing it, but sometimes he does. He has said that he feels like he needs to flap because he has such high energy. He has very sweaty hands and feet, which makes me think he is toxic. How can you not know that you are shaking your hands vigorously while jumping up and down and making very strange sounds? I don't know if there is any connection with his sleep issues.
