Guest guest
Hi All, My son is 3 yr 4 mon and we have been doing biomed for a little over year with some gains and no big regressions. We started chelation 6 months back with DMSA Suppositories 3 day on and 11 off . I have done 12 rounds so far. There has been some gains but he is stimming a lot. If i engage him , he is fine and i can see the improvements and his ability to understand but the time he is not engaged he stims and i dont know if its humanly possible to engage somebody all the time. The DMSA Suppository dosage was 320 mg and he weighs 30lbs. It was one supp a day for 3 days . I hear from all your notes that it way too high and am thinking of switching to oral AC protocol. Couple of things i need advice on 1. I have not seen big regressions with what am doing . I have seen some gains not a whole lot which is why am thinking that 6 months is good enough time and i should move on. Am i expecting gains too fast ? Is it okay to leave something that has been working not to bad ? 2. After how many rounds on oral do people see changes which makes them think this is the way to go. I understand its tough to answer this. 3. In general, how many rounds of oral do people do on average ? 4. Are stims common with frequent low dosing too ? My major problem is his stimming ,screeching, teethgrinding (which he didnt do before chelation). I have tried addressing teeth grinding issues with supplements (zinc) but it is not going away. I think this is what is masking his gain. He have done yeast protocol and did see yeasty symptoms go away but none of the above. 5. I am really confused on what i should do ? i have heard of yeast issues with oral and mine is somewhat a yeasty kid (not too bad) but am scared of blowing up everything . Sorry about the long mail..Pls help. Thanks, Kavitha
Guest guest
I have done 3 rounds of low dose ALA on my 5 year old daughter. Things she started to do after starting chelation were sucking on her lip and breathing deeply. I had raised the supplements to prepare for chelation. I thought maybe this was OCD behavior and ignored it for awhile. Then I heard she may be getting too much supplements. I reduced the supplements to below my starting point to get the symptoms to go away. I think she gets a dry mouth when yeast is there and her lips turn red and crack. If I up the GSE it goes away. After 3 rounds she seems a little better. More empathy. But I am not ready to say it is working. Guest guest
Kavitha, Please look at the files section here. That dose sounds insanely high! I was giving my 120# daughter 50 mg each of dmsa and ala every 3 hours until I tried that dose myself. It was ghastly!! We went down to a level that I could 'tolerate.' - 12.5mg of each every 3 hours and and ahve worked up to the current 15mg every 3 hours[3 days on schedule]. Our grandson, who was also about 30 lbs during his time of chelation, used about 8-9mg of dmsa orally every 4 hours. He tolerated it fine. Today, he fits the 'recovered' category. He had high lead as well as counting out toxic for mercury. > > Hi All, > > My son is 3 yr 4 mon and we have been doing biomed for a little over > year with some gains and no big regressions. Guest guest
Kavitha, We will be starting round 4 of oral DMSA tomorrow on my 4 yr old son using the Andy's protocol. After round 1, he appeared more aware of his enviornment, especially peers. After round 2, there was a jump in his pretend play. After round 3, he has started actually having conversations with me, teachers and therapists. It is exciting for me to make observations on what I am seeing and then have a teacher or therapist (who do not know we are chelating) talk to me about new things he is doing and confirm my observations. My son tends to struggle with yeast, but it has been managable with the DMSA. I have been chelating myself along with my son. An invaluable experience! It has really helped me understand what is going on by feeling what is going on personally. Best wishes, Sofia --------------------------------- Everyone is raving about the all-new beta. Guest guest
Hi All, Thanks for the wonderful response. Very encouraging. I am going ahead with Oral DMSA AC protocol finally (long due). My DAN is willing to work with me on it but gave me a big yeast warning / lecture. I have a few yeast protocols in place . Neil, these are the list of supplements / diet info. Pls let me know if am missing anything. 1. Strict GFCF diet and rotation diet for others. No outside food. Everything is organic / home cooked. 2. Brainchild Vitamins, Mega Minerals, Liquid Zinc , Selenium, Picmins , MagP5P, Ca-mg citramate, Vitc (1100mg per day), Vit E , NN CLO with Vitamin D (upto 5000IU per day), b12 shots (every other day), folinic acid , TD-Glutathione, Liver Support in place, lots of probiotics, digestive enzyme with meals. All supplements are distributed throughout the day in split doses. I rotate MCT Oil (caprylic acid), GSE , SF722(castor oil) for yeast aid. So far yeast is under control. My son weighs 30lbs . I am thinking of starting with 10mg every 4 hours (a little over 1/4mg /lb of body weight) since he has been in DMSA for a while now. Pls let me know if all this looks okay . Guest guest
Seems like you are doing a lot of things right. I am wondering if you did a DDI Hair Test, this could help you to target any supps he needs or is getting too much of. Didn't see any EFA's (Fish Oil), those are good for speech and calming. 10Mg should be OK since he has shown to be pretty tolerant of the previous DMSA doses. Every 4 hours day and night can wear you down, but as Andy explains, excess amounts doesn't equal more clearing from the body. Sounds like you are on top of things ! Good Luck ! For my kids, teeth grinding was mineral deficiency. Three of them needed added zinc. The fourth needed added copper and cal/mag. Guest guest
Dana, The stims are in the form of just lying on the carpet and looking at the ceiling , constant screeching, teeth grinding, useless verbal stims with songs he knows. All the stims go away when i keep him engaged. The minute he is free he starts stimming. I read your previous post about zinc (mineral deficiency) and teeth grinding. I have tried addressing it and it is not helping for teeth grinding. His copper is already slightly elevated . I already give him cal/mag . I did try increasing it more ..that didnt help too much too. I do RBC elements test every 2 months to check mineral level and so far they look good though zinc is a little lower than where i started . He is at a point where if i tell him " quite teeth " he will stop for a minute may be . The screeching is another pain . Have no idea what to do about it do. The only thing about all this is it started right after chelation. Thats why am hoping doing the right protocol will help. Let me know if there is anything else i can do for the stims. Thanks, Kavitha > > My son is 3 yr 4 mon and we have been doing biomed for a little over > > year with some gains and no big regressions. Guest guest
> The stims are in the form of just lying on the carpet and looking at > the ceiling , Possibly yeast. >>constant screeching, Can be yeast, can be other things. My son did something like a " large bird chirp " when it was time to move from flax oil to fish oil. >>teeth grinding, Mineral deficiency for my kids. Three needed zinc. One needed copper and cal/mag. It can also be caused by yeast in the sinuses. >> useless verbal > stims with songs he knows. For my son, these were eliminated with folic acid and anti-virals, but yeast overgrowth will cause them to come back. > The screeching is another pain . Have no idea what to do about it > do. Try increasing your yeast protocol, see if that helps any of those issues. Dana
