Guest guest
Yup, this is why they call it the " Yeast Beast. " Yes, it's terrible. Yeast can definitely " hide " any progress you are making in many, many areas. Our son does very well on Diflucan also. Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. My 7 year old has yeast issue and for the past 10 months we have been treating it with anti-fungal medicine and some other things like Candidase. I do understand that yeast is one of the biggest issues with him. When we use Diflucan, he gets very alert, more 'with-it'. We have been doing MB12 shots for the last 5 months and chelation (TD-DMPS - every 8 hours, 3 days on/4 days off) for 8 rounds and we saw nice gains. But what I don't understand is that whenever his yeast is back, I feel that we lost everything that we have built on for him...he is not talking much, yells and cries, giggles a lot, we have to repeat the same questions over and over to get a simple answer...when he is like that, I get dipressed and think about reprogramming his home programs etc. and then when we start anti-fungal, he is really good and I feel like I wasted my time thinking about reprogramming... I know that there are lots of kids who have yeast issues here. But are there any kids who are as bumpy as my son? Even when my son is 'good', his language is still bad, but he at least looks more 'normal' to me and he doesn't look as 'hangover'ish as he is when he has yeast... My DAN! suggested SCD but I don't have enough courage to go for it yet... thanks, harumi
Guest guest
Harumi, We too have a super yeasty kiddo. I have found that we have to keep my little guy on Rx antifungals all the time and add in other support, like massive probiotics, candex, etc. every day. We have been tinkering with Neutrophil +, which worked very well for and I think a few others as well, but are not totally up to speed on it (copper issues - there is a small amount of copper in N + - were freaking me out, but I think I am over that). The yeast here has gotten significantly better of late, though I suppose we will be fighting this battle daily until the day no biomed interventions are required (should that ever come to pass). My advice is to be agressive about treating for yeast. Ask your doc if you can get an unlimited pass with the Rxs and get other OTC stuff on board that is well tolerated. And keep chelating, chelating, chelating! FWIW, when we chelate I give 6 candex/day during the daytime and slip the Rx in at night with the ALA (easy enough if your kid takes pills). Guest guest
You won't be able to get the yeast under control until you deal with diet and stop " feeding " them. What are your concerns about SCD? What's your kid's current diet like? Oh yes. My son has lost his dx, on most days seems completely NT, but when he gets yeast (which he still does, after 3+ years of biomed) a lot of those symptoms come back -- not being able to respond to questions, grouchy, being very literal-minded, crying over little things, etc. > I know that there are lots of kids who have yeast issues here. If it helps, SCD did not help my son's yeast at all. But you might try taking away one thing at time, starting with the biggest yeast-producer (bread, potatoes, high glycemic-index foods) and see if that helps. Try for as low sugar as you can. Guest guest
I think the SCD is more supposed to address bacterial issues, while the Body Ecology Diet is directed towrads yeast. But to me, Body Ecology seems far more difficult- but perhaps more effective. My son has been on SCD since July, and I don't think it helped with yeast. > > > But what I don't understand is that whenever his yeast is back, I feel > > that we lost everything that we have built on for him...he is not > > talking much, yells and cries, giggles a lot, we have to repeat the > > same questions over and over to get a simple answer... > > Oh yes. Guest guest
" My DAN! suggested SCD but I don't have enough courage to go for it yet... " The SCD is a great diet. It is very nourishing and starves out the yeast. It's really not that hard. Have you read the book about it? " Breaking The Vicious Cycle " by Elaine Gottschall. It explains how the diet works and why it is successful for many people. Read the book and consider giving it a try. I hope it works for you. In a message dated 11/30/2006 10:08:44 P.M. We've been doing this for 18 months and in our latest test, yeast came back negative. Of course now we have to deal w/ gut bacteria... harumistew <_ct-stewarts@ct-stewartct-_ (mailto:ct-stewarts@...) > wrote: My 7 year old has yeast issue and for the past 10 months we have been treating it with anti-fungal medicine and some other things like Candidase. Both yeast overgrowth, and virus issues, caused this for my son. Yep, not fun. Dana
