Guest guest
The first thing I would suspect is a food or supplement intolerance. My daughter is like that after having had an infraction. Her stomach bothers her for days after and she thinks putting food in it will make the low-level ache go away. While it may do so temporarily, it only makes things worse. -- Rima Regas Mom to Leah, age 8 (AS, DSI and APD) http://www.sensoryintegrationhelp.com On 5/21/06, dannenedrummond <dannenedrummond@...> wrote: > > My son will not stop begging for food. Guest guest
Hi, In our case, this was a sign of not metabolizing food well. Although he was eating all day long, he would keep asking for food as if his system was not getting what it required. I don;t know if this makes sense. Digestive enzymes helped us tremendously in this area. If my son had been asking for a specific food/s, I would have beens suspicious, but he would eat anything you gave him (even he did not like it that much) as long as he was eating. His stools very often had chunks of food.I don't know if this is your case. I know how nerve-breaking this situation can be! I sincerely hope that you find an answer soon,
Guest guest
I would suspect he is deficient in something, either due to poor digestion or limited food choices. Constant eating is the body telling you that it needs some particular nutrient that it is not getting. Also, yeast can make you starving all the time. Once I treated the yeast, we all stayed out of the kitchen. I notices appetites going down. What types of food is he craving? Are they mostly starchy? If so, that would be yeast. If he is craving odd things, like say broccoli then you could suspect a nutrient. Make a list of the types of foods he is beggin for. Then figure out what nutrients are in them. Make sure he is getting enought of those, and add enzymes to be sure he is digesting what he eats. > > My son will not stop begging for food. He eats all day long. Guest guest
Our little one did not test allergic, to anything. As a general rule, unless there are big allergies to something, I am not in favor of removing whole nutritious food groups, at all. Even with a bonafide allergy, I am in favor of removing the offending substance only for a short time, while working on the allergy, then putting it back, straightway. Our Dan! said remove milk, even in the absence of an allergy. We did for three weeks and she lost language and if there was ever a sicker looking kid, I don't want to see them, so we put it back. Then the dan! said " no fruit, except pears. " Come on, fruit is a wonderful source of vitamins/minerals/fiber and antioxidants! I have heard a lot of people say when they removed the things their child was allergic to they developed allergies to other foods, the allergies just shifted to other things. Better to shore up the immune system to handle what the body needs, IMHO. Guest guest
he craves any and everything. most of the time he pulls fruits out of the fridge, like strawberries, watermelon, apples and grapes. sometimes he'll pull out other things like cheese or yogurt but most of the time it is fruit. he eats so much it's ridiculous! > > > > My son will not stop begging for food. Guest guest
thanks for the articles. my son was given the IgG test and i removed all the foods that came up with positive reactions out of his diet for 4 months. He didn't improve at all, he regressed. when i added the foods back in he got a lot better. he always has had perfect bowel movements. i think that is one of the best indicators of health. he does seem to react to foods that have additives in them though. > > What intresting things did you find when you researched " hunger autism " > I found it intresting... Guest guest
I had the same experience ! I have read a lot about the IgG testing and it is not positive. They have tested all the major places that do the testing and they come back with different results every time from the same person. Every doctor and immunologist I've talked to says we don't know enough about the IgG and how it affects people. It probably helps for some people to take the things out of the diet but not everyone (especially my son who MAJORLY regressed!!) > > Our little one did not test allergic, to anything. Guest guest
On the other side of this IgG debate--- plus 2 was the only 'high' result we got. It was peanut. She hadn't had peanut in years because we already knew it made her crazy. Only when we withdrew gluten, casein, and soy were seizures tamed. They were all rated a plus 1 on the standard 90 panel. Our clue to those was an IgG test that Seroussi mentioned in her book done through a research project several years ago. Both gluten and casein scored very high on this test. Why not on the other? beats me. I was just happy to have some seizure control. traditional and not so traditional allergy testing had not defined either of these as triggers for her either. This marked dietary response is what led me to the vaccine connection. > > > > Our little one did not test allergic, to anything. Guest guest
You are on one tough road. Maybe this can help you figure out what is happening. http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/food-allergy.html#IgE I found that no matter what I change my son diet to.... that food would soon be the food that was leaking through the gut wall. http://www.enzymestuff.com/rtsensorygut.htm My 2 cents Ann
Guest guest
we actually got +4 on about 10 foods when my son took the test! my son doesn't have seizures and has good poops so the only way i had to measure if anything was happening was his behavior, which got progressively worse until 4 months later we quit. and we were extremely careful about everything he ate! anyways, i don't think there is a debate. some children get better from removing the foods and some don't. i'm very glad your child's seizures stopped!! that is wonderful and you should definitely continue doing what you're doing! > > > > > > Our little one did not test allergic, to anything. Guest guest
Yes, if I had a child who had a miraculous behavior change while avoiding a food, I would avoid it. Conversely, I have read of children who started talking when milk was withdrawn. When you have a child who has such a marked reaction to avoiding a food, hard to argue against that. What I am particularly objecting to is the universal exclusion, in the absence of any evidence, of good food. That's ridiculous. This was my son when he was eating foods [or supplements] not tolerated, and when he had a yeast overgrowth issue. >>he craves any and everything. most of the time he pulls fruits out of the fridge, like strawberries, watermelon, apples and grapes. My son tolerated apples with No-Fenol enzyme. He did not tolerate the other fruits you list here, even with enzymes. All these fruits also feed yeast. >>he does seem to react to foods that have additives in them though. This is a good indicator of phenol intolerance, and the fruits you indicated above, are all high phenol. Try giving them with No-Fenol enzyme, see if that helps http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.houstonni.com/ Dana
Guest guest
Yes, but since the gut is the source for 70% of the immune system, it is very important to heal the gut. Sometimes means the temporary removal of some foods. Alergies aren't the only reason to remove something. If, for example, a kid has leaky gut or nodual hyperplasia, removing di and polysacarides can support healing (as in Specific Carbohydrate Diet). Some kids have a terrible reaction to phenols, and so removing most fruit is a good idea for them. The point I think is to think about the needs of each indivdual child and respond correctly to those needs. Cochran <Ladyshrink111@...> wrote: Our little one did not test allergic, to anything. Then you might want to experiment with removing foods and/or epsom salt baths until such time as his gut is healed sufficiently to try something else.
