Guest guest
I recall some time back, a group member using LDN cited Alpha lipoic acid as aiding fatigue. I'm sorry I can't recall the exact circumstances of it's successful use or how long ago it was posted - and unfortunately, a success story is yet to be submitted to Case Health in support of it's benefit for fatigue so I haven't any anecdotal evidence to share. A search of the group posts may locate or ... (Aletha, is there a chance you saved the post?) As always, check with your doctor first to ensure there are no personal extenuating health circumstances or possible conflicts. Guest guest
Hi Cris, copied and pasted this for you - Combat chronic fatigue syndrome. Because it plays a part in cellular energy production, some nutritionally oriented physicians recommend alpha-lipoic acid for the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome. While evidence of its effectiveness for this condition is anecdotal, alpha-lipoic acid is a broad-spectrum antioxidant and immune system booster. This means it may be able to play a valuable role in increasing energy and maintaining overall health in chronic fatigue syndrome sufferers. For general antioxidant protection: Take 100 mg twice a day. the site - http://tinyurl.com/3xwj43 Alana > > I recall some time back, a group member using LDN cited Alpha lipoic acid as aiding fatigue. Guest guest
In response to my earlier post, I received the following collection of posts and information regarding FATIGUE: 'Thank you' Aletha, Greg, and Alana for your assistance in gathering. Just a thought ... whilst fatigue is a symptom that's been cited many times by new group members, my understanding is the fatique they'd experienced had been unrelenting. To me, this is a different symptom to the one you described earlier - of alternating waves of fatigue/energy (peaks and troughs) over very short periods of time (within hours) - so please discuss this with their doctor. Dr. Bihari does not believe anything under 3 mg is effective. Have you seen the website? If you haven't, it's an important source of information: www.low dose naltrexone.org. As for fatigue... I've found that to be the hardest one to deal with. I've been taking B12 shots since December--every few weeks and now once a month--and I've found them to be more effective than anything else I've tried. Since the Fall, I've also been taking cod liver oil (Carlson's Norwegian Cod Liver Oil--lemon-flavored--so not truly disgusting) and blueberry softgels. (I order both from Dr. Mercola's website, on the advice of Tom.) It's a distinct possibility that the cod liver oil has also caused my energy level to improve. I've also had a short spurts of improvement when I've taken Bragg's apple cider vinegar. Does your husband get enough sleep? That's crucial--at least for me. Don't feel any difference, but plan to stick with it in hopes of the long-term benefits. But one thing I am getting immediate benefits from is r-lipoic acid supplements. (The " r " in " r-lipoic " is the r isomer of alpha lipoic acid (ALA).) They really help with the fatigue & cognitive issues. I'm taking other supplements, but the effect of the lipoic acid has been dramatic & obvious to my family, friends & co-workers. Is anyone else getting benefits from alpha lipoic acid? I don't know whether it will help with the long term course of the disease, but there is research supporting possible real benefits (though intravenous may be more effective than oral). Hi -- I am new to this discussion of LDN, but I just read the question about needing energy. Whenever I take super malic, I get immediate energy. It's in the healthfood stores. It's a combo of malic acid from apples and magnesium. It's supposed to fuel the ATP energy cycle in our cells. It comes in 200mg tablets, I believe. Start slowly, and earlier in the day. I took my first one at night and didn't sleep at all, I had so much energy! It also moved me from the slow lane of the pool to the fast one! About 5 months ago I started to use ALA (200mg) together with L-Carnitine (200mg), I'm not 100% sure about the spelling since english isn't my mothertongue, once a day on a empty stomac. After using it for a week I felt stronger and I haven't suffered from fatigue once since that! Prior to that I suffered almost daily from fatigue and it has been the most severe symptom I have had for the last 15 years. Please note that ALA alone isn't that effective but it is the combination of the two that makes all the difference. If you suffer from fatigue I would advise you to try this since it isn't harmful (except for the wallet..) in anyway the link- http://tinyurl.com/3drzwx Have you ever tried glutamine powder for the fatigue?
