Guest guest
Our reasons were money, and lack of docs that were knowledgeable. One of the bigger reasons is because it's labeled " voodoo " and I didn't want DFACS beating down my door to take my child!!!! People thinking you're crazy as hell is one thing, doing something that would give them ammunition or the ability to misconstrue anything to prove you're crazy is another. All the while remembering that most people do not live in our world and most likely do not feel that our kids can be helped; this mind set will most certainly lead a parent to do things on the sly with alot of research, prayer and support from others who are in the same boat. Just my 2 cents and experience..... klm [ ] Question about at home chelation that will make a lot of people mad Ok. I gotta ask this question. I know it will make a lot of people in this group mad, I am not asking this to do this, I really want to know the answer because I feel like I am missing out on something. * Why are parents doing Chelation Therapy alone, without a doctor guiding them through this process?> I am thinking it could be because of different Reasons: * Money * Lack of Doctors with knowledge * ? Once my son was diagnosed and I made the decision with Chelation Therapy, I knew I couldnt do it alone. I researched and found a natural doctor that is walking me through step by step. She is available via phone, office, email to me 24/7. Please note I do tons of my own research and exchange emails with fellow members from this group and others. As well as read read read. Guest guest
Doesn't make me mad at all. We all choose what we feel is best for us. I think the reasons some people choose not to work with doctors include repeated bad experiences with doctors, limited funds (especially after the repeated bad experiences), finding much better help in groups like this...that sort of thing. I am a chelating adult, and I do use professionals (doctors and other practitioners) for various services. However, the information that has been most effective (and has not hurt me) is what I have learned here and in other online forums. I received a lot of advice from a lot of docs and others over the years. Some of it was helpful, but a lot has caused problems or was ineffective. I have learned far more useful information here and have made far more progress. I think people's experience with doctors depends a lot on how toxic they or their kid(s) are to begin with, as well as how toxicity is affecting their body. Some problems are difficult to address and a person may have to look around a lot to find a doctor, or an online forum that has some answers that begin to work for them (or at least doesn't make matters worse) - and then they may have to look around some more to find a solution to the next problem, and so on. If things are going well with your doctor and you are getting the help you feel you need, that is terrific! -- > > Ok. I gotta ask this question. Guest guest
We have tried PCA-RX and TD-DMSA. On testing we saw great results but not that much clinically. (We did see a big leap the first couple of months of PCA-RX.) We decided to try the Cutler Protocol. We do have a DAN! doc that we still see. She knows we are doing it. She is not knowledgeable about the protocol but she supports us trying it. Money has become a big issue for us. Guest guest
I'll bet many of those who are now chelating doctor-free tried doctors in the past and found them worthless, dangerous, clueless, expensive, unavailable and/or obstructive. I *have* a DAN! doctor or two, but I rarely use them anymore. It was reassuring/helpful in the beginning to have an MD on board, but I've come to realize this chelation business isn't rocket science (in our case). Guest guest
> * Why are parents doing Chelation Therapy alone, without a doctor > guiding them through this process?> Because when I was calling around trying to find a doctor, none of them would accept my son as a patient, because he has a Kanner dx. So I had no choice but to learn how to do everything by myself, with OTC supplements, if I wanted him to have a chance at recovery. Then, when it was time for chelation, I already knew more than most doctors, so why waste my money? I used ALA, which is something the body produces anyway, so I was not using anything " dangerous " in my opinion. And my son is now recovered. Guest guest
> * Why are parents doing Chelation Therapy alone, without a doctor > guiding them through this process?> Because I had no doctor anywhere nearby who knew how to chelate properly. And because, thanks to the vaccine injury and the unwillingness of every doctor I saw subsequent to that to believe anything I had to say, my trust in doctors was broken. I trust Andy. There are some doctors and researchers whose work and opinion is worth thinking about. But no one whose directions I'm willing to follow without doing my own research. Guest guest
Long story short about 2 years ago doc and a test said we were finished. So called professional " expert at chelation no less. He dropped the ball and I had to pick up the pieces figuring out what was missing. Wasn't till I came back to this board after 4 long years under professional care Dan! Doc no less) and applied the work of Andy Cutler, then I started to see what chelation is all about. Applying the slow and steady approach along with good ole common sense and a practical chelation protocol is what it took to start progressing again. Along with the help and support of all the knowledgeable biomoms and dads (Btw who are the ones in the trenches) is what gave me all the support I needed. I applied what I learned the hard way, then discovered how to get my son better. I believe a big lesson for everyone that been here long enough. We have done # 54 rounds (Cutler style) thus so far and still seeing gains with every round " yea " …slow and steady. As Andy says " stand pat Chelate, Chelate and Chelate some more " , till ya get the job done. In short why am I doing this alone? Cuz my son is doing better than ever before under my care. I have been treating him for well over 5 years now and know him better than any doctor. I have administered every dose every supplement and every biomedical treatment thus so far. (Ok My wife deserves a big praise on this as well ) Have looked at stools revamped supplement regimen many of times. . Researched researched researched. Have gone through the good the bad the ugly. With the grace of God soon he will be restored in the boy hat God intended him to be . Thanks for listening I never mentioned money (that was a sore subject as well) because truth is discovered and no amount of money will ever be able to apply what truth reveals. Guest guest
Deana, Why we chelate on our own: It's elementary really, NO ONE would help us! I was told that I was paranoid and the the lead in my son was not harmful. That there was no way the mercury shots and fillings in myself and my daugher were making us sick. I was told to take antidepressants and not worry about it. I had doctors humor me, or nod in agreement that what I was saying made sense, but none of them wanted to risk scrutiny in the medical community by helping us chelate. Most did not even want to do any testing to rule it out. The one and only doctor in our area who chelates follows a protocol that is not safe, and charges a lot of money for that protocol. Chelation under Andy's protocol is really quite simple once you learn about it. The supplements and such are basic. I did the research on what is out there to help metal poisoning. What was safe, what was bs...this makes sense. I could not stand by and watch my children's lives be ruined like mine was by chronic metal toxicity. It was robbing them of their happiness, their ability to learn, and their ability to thrive. It will rob them of their future..unless as their mother I stepped up to help them. No one will protect your kids like you will. While having a doc might be useful for some poeple and some things. For us, straight forward metal poisoning, which did not take a doctors degree to treat or understand. By the way any docs I saw, did not beleive metal poisoning existed anymore. I have done 10 rounds on my PDD son, who by the way saw the Dev. Ped in July and is not PDD anymore. Thanks to me. If I had listened to mainstream medicine, likely he would be worse and with permanant damage. I think it is wonderful for those who are able to find medical doctors to help them. For us that wasn't going to happen, and I could not sit by and watch my beautiful little boy continue to withdraw into himself. Rather than spent money on someone telling me what I already know, I chose to use the money to pay for the actual treatment. I have not regretted my decision. I watch my kids improve with each round and still amazed that it can be that simple. By the way, I am not mad that you asked! > > > > Ok. I gotta ask this question. Guest guest
THank you so much <sage@...> wrote: Doesn't make me mad at all. Guest guest
--For me, the main reason is $$$, but I learned when my now 15 year old son was 5 that I would be better off not listening to the doctors, who shook their heads sympathetically as if to say, " This poor woman actually believes her son may someday have a life. " I decided at that point... " I am on my own. " There are alot of knowledgeable homeopaths, etc.these days in my area, But REALLY out for the BUCK! which I don't have. If we don't have hope and faith enough to try what some people consider unconventional treatments(not FDA approved)...GEE Vaccines are FDA approved, aren't they, as well as Amalgams??? Our kids would have no chance. I still believe that my son can have his life back, although he has missed out on his childhood...and I believe that chelation is THE treatment that just may do it, in time. Almost EVERY treatment I have tried for my son, I have done it without being under a doctors care. Mainly because my son's Medicaid doctor thinks it is all a waste of time and that Autism is permanent. I believe in cause and effect. Something caused his " autism " and it CAN be reversed...But I have no choice of doctors, So the ONLY time my kids see the doc is when they are very ill, which is never, because we use natural supplements, antioxidants and remedies-not drugs.
