Guest guest
My 7 year old ASD son has always been a big kid. (Parents are not). He was born at 9 lbs., 10 oz. By the time he was one, he weighed 30 pounds. He started losing teeth at age 4 and lost all of his teeth prior to starting kindergarten at age 5 1/2. He appeared to have all of his permanent teeth in before turning 7. He is quite tall and weighs 70 pounds. He is very strong. People often think he is 9 year old. His recent IGF-I (Quest) is 65 with a reference range of 65-278. I also have an NT son who is not a big kid - actually is small. So, I don't think this is simply genetic. My husband was not a big kid nor was I. Is this advanced growth often seen in kids with high testosterone? I have not had his level tested. Any insight into the situation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Guest guest
I am resending a previous email: Lots if not most autistic kids have high testosterone -- known as precocious puberty. A mainstream doctor, Dr. Geier believes that stopping of testosterone may be the key to solving the entire ASD problem. So how to lower testosterone? -- use Lupron which is very controversial on these sites. I believe you should ate least have your child tested for high testosterone. How do you go about doing it? If you suspect that your boy behaves (self play) or appears more mature (hairy) than he should, then you need to tell your doctor that you suspect " precocious puberty " . He will test for high testosterone and other things. Note that autistic kids do not really have precocious puberty but it may be testosterone-mercury sheets bound. I know this sounds crazy but the best person to listen to is the doctor himself -- use this pointer, scroll down and listen to Dr. Geier: http://www.autismmedia.org/media4.html You will find this interesting -- VERY INTERESTING! mom114425 <JLJukoski@...> wrote: My 7 year old ASD son has always been a big kid. Guest guest
My son has high testosterone/precocious puberty (mustache at age 7) yet he is not tall for his age. He is 7 1/2 and his height ranges from 49 inches to almost 51 inches depending on who's measuring him, the time of day, and how cooperative he is. He's been putting on an alarming amount of weight, though. mother of Adam --- Abid Khan <a_bit_solutions@...> wrote: > I am resending a previous email: > > Lots if not most autistic kids have high > testosterone -- known as precocious puberty. Guest guest
My daughter tested very high in tesosterone... and had non detectable levels of estrogen. For a girl of 7 years, her testosterone levels should have been no higher than 6. She was at 19 ng/dcl. She's undergoing the Geier protocol now, with Lupron...and doing well. VERY well. After just four sub-cutaneous (daily) doses, she began doing things we've been trying to teach her for five years...such as use a cup and fork... and she began paying attention to us! And obeying us when we ask her to do something! She's now two months into the protocol. We had a bout of regression when we added DMSA chelation to the protocol... after which the Geiers took her off the chelator. They saw that her urinary co-porphyrin levels were very low and believe it may be due to the fact that she's been chelated for the last two years with TD-DMPS. They will continue to monitor porphyrin levels (as a sign of total body mercury burden) to make sure they don't go back up. Since going off the chelator, her attention span has increased again (on lupron only), her tactile defensiveness has decreased considerably and she's listening to us again. Her gut has improved dramatically (after five years of diarrhea... but that's also in part due to SCD diet, Valtrex, curcumin and coconut Kefir). But we DEFINITELY noticed gut improvement with the lupron. Make no mistake. Testosterone is my daughter's sworn enemy. It took five years of trying everything else before we discovered what was holding her back. The biomedical interventions we've tried before Lupron were still useful, however. Her mercury & lead are much lower, her mineral levels are darn close to normal (after five years of being askew)...and even her eyesight has improved by 60% since we've chelated her. She went from coke-bottle glasses to not really needing glasses. She's on a very mild prescription...and most of the time, she chooses NOT to wear them. We'll know better if Lupron is her magic bullet in a number of months. Right now, we have to find a way to pay for intensive ABA and speech therapy. Biomed has drained our financial resources. But it has been worth every penny. > > My 7 year old ASD son has always been a big kid. (Parents are > not). > > He was born at 9 lbs., 10 oz. By the time he was one, he weighed > 30 > > pounds.
