Guest guest
Jan, I don't know what part of the country you are in, but here in Nebraska, viruses are horrible right now. My daughter was just released from the hospital this morning because of dehydration with a virus. Her symptoms were a little different than your son's. LOTS of vomiting, no eating or drinking etc...thus dehydration. Anyway, if I got to do the past three days over, I would have done some things differently. Specifically, I would have given virus stop, LOTS of fluids, starchy foods, increase vit C and all those immune boosting supps. My guess is your son has a virus that has to run it's course. I would increase virus stop as long as he is tolerating it. Up vitamin C if possible and maybe add extra zinc (if you can get those in him). I know around here, the virus is lasting about 4 days. You could always put a call into the nurse and confirm what's going around in your area. That's what we do often and then will usually confirm it's viral and I dont end up having to take the kids in. Hope that helps! > > My 4 year old spiked a fever over 101 on Friday afternoon. Threw up > once and has been lethargic with this fever since. Guest guest
Thanks. We are in Ny and it sounds like a virus thingy too. He is not vomiting or diahrrea but certainly high fever, lethargic, not eating. He is refusing all supps right now, but we are getting 1/4 cap of Virastop into him three times a day thus far. He is drinking water at least. But he is so weak and now complaining of pain in his side/hip area. What worries me is that the fever is up to 103.5 now axilliary now. So it's climbing slowly. But I keep reminding myself this is protocol for the body killing a virus. He won't drink any tylenol anyway. Thanks again! > > > > My 4 year old spiked a fever over 101 on Friday afternoon. Geez, all those immune boosters he was on...and he still got something. Thanks for all the help. > > > > My 4 year old spiked a fever over 101 on Friday afternoon. Guest guest
What I meant was its' what they give in place of antibiotics for children allergic to amoxicillian. Sorry poor description, but I haven't been sleeping much with him up off and on all night. It is an antibacterial med..can't recall the name. > > > > > > > > My 4 year old spiked a fever over 101 on Friday afternoon. > Threw > > > up > > > > once and has been lethargic with this fever since. My #4 had frequent strep issues. I would take her to the ped and he would rx Zithromax. I was told it was very contagious, so when the boys had it, just call and he would rx Zithromax for them. I was giving them OLE. They never got strep. A few weeks after the Zithromax, #4 would get strep again, and I would take her back to the ped. I got tired of taking her to the ped, so the last time she had strep, I gave her OLE instead of taking her to the ped. She has never had strep again. Try OLE. I gave her 500mg per day for the standard 10-days you generally give anti-biotics. Dana
