I am really interested in what everyone is doing with their current drugs with the LDN. Are you stopping them continuing on them? My 14 year old son has had crohns with a 60 cm small bowel resection whent he was 10. He is on imuran 150 mg now. He just got out of the hospital for 1 week with bacterial colitis with a Crohns flare. So I am trying to decide how to manage my son.

I have got my Dad a prescription for LDN in hopes it helps his metastatic melanoma like what Dr. Berkson did with his cancer patients.

The imuran might inhibit the effects of LDN since it is immunosuppressive.

Hi, I just wanted to share my experience with you. I have struggled with colitis for some years now, as I have a moderate inflammation throughout my colon. My symptoms are mainly bleeding (resulting in lack of iron and anemia), diarea, tiredness, stomach-pain and some joint-pain. In the beginning my bad periods were not that bad, and did not last long. But as the colitis has progressed, I now have quite bad flares, my last one lasting from june up until now, causing me to loose 15 kg.Now, before I stared LDN, I have tried a lot of diets, and I know I feel better when I don't eat any sugar, wheat, yeast, milk, red meat or tomatoes. So I have continued to avoid these.Instantly after taking my first dose of LDN I felt something happening. The stress and tension I have had in my body almost constantly for the last 2 years dissapeared, and I actually felt relaxed. I can see how that could be a placebo-effect, but I s

till think it's a bit strange, as I was feeling nervous and a bit scared before taking the dose. (I took 3 mg for a week, and then 4,5) Now, after 4 weeks on LDN, I have to say I feel almost like a normal person. I now have on average one bowel movement a day, where I used to have from 5 - 15. My stool is firm, and there's not so much blood, although I can still se traces of it. My stomach-pain is no longer a real pain, it's more of a discomfort, but still there. I recon it will go away in a while - Rome was not buildt in a day. But the biggest difference is in my energy-level. Before LDN I had days where I was unable to stay awake the whole day, and the only thing that could get me out of bed was the urgency to get to the toilet. Now I can work most of the day without having to sit down.I am so glad that I went through the trouble of finding a doctor who would prescribe LDN, and that I can take responsibillity for my own health by using it. Combined with my diet, I think LDN will make my life so much easier. I hope maybe my story can inspire others with colitis to give it a try.-Mari

Hello Mari,

I got so excited by reading your story. I have Crohns myself, it's concidered as

a close cousin to ulcerative colitis. I have had almost the same reactions as you

after starting with LDN. I started in september, got my dx in june, and have to

admit that my Crohns was not half as hard as your colitis. My disease have been

a dangerous operator by doing a lot of damage during a lot of years leaving me

unconcious to it all the time. Haven't had any diarrhea or pain, but still there has

been an inflammation going on in my small intestines, making my intestines narrowed

and with strictures.

Now the last year I've got more diarrhea, more pain and abdominal

discomfort. The very first day after taking my first LDN: ALL the pain was gone.

ALL the diarrhea was gone, ALL the discomfort and abdominal swelling was gone.

I haven't had ANY bleeding since the first dose on 3.0 mg. I felt even better after

taking 4.5 mg 3 weeks after my first LDN, and haven't had any typical Crohns symptoms,

except for some pain those days I have been eating vegetables that I forgot to prepare

in the ways us IBD'ers (inflammated bowel disease) have to prepare it. I do as you as well;

I avoid sugar, red meat, milk and yeast. I have ordered gluten wheat to my local store,

but I live at a small island in the middle of nowwhere, so this takes time Thank you so much telling us your share,

I hope there are some IBD'ers reading our stories,

from Norway to all over the world ;-)

all the best from Ingrid

Hi Ingrid,Why have you orderd "gluten wheat"? Dr. J. McCandless recommends that LDNers avoid sugar, soy, dairy (that includes yogurt), AND gluten (found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats).Best regards,Dudley Delany

Hi ,

I too have Crohns disease. I feel much better, taking my LDN from sept. 07.

I have only used prednisone for my disease, cause I got my dx in june this

year, and had pred. for 3 months. My theory is: Prednisone calmed down

my inflammation, when I had tapered pred, I started to take LDN the very

first day after the last pred. Since the inflammation then was at a low level

it maybe was easier for my immune system to adjust the disease. This is

a shot in the dark, but anyway, maybe something to think of?

Have you ever considered to change your sons nutrition? Dr. Jaquelin MC

Candless says it's important to everyone with atuoimmune diseases to do so,

she claims us to buy or bake our own glutenfree breads and cakes, to avoid

soy, sugar and milk products. Some people may do better by changing the diet

to calm down the flares, and then start LDN, some may do as I did.

To learn about what food to avoid when in a flare, and what food to avoid getting

pain or diarrhea, I would suggest this book:

The New Eating Right For a Bad Gut, author: Scala, Ph.D. You may order

it from www.amazone.com Due to your question about stopping or continuing LDN. LDN adjusts your immunesystem,

if you stop taking it the immunesystem will return to a lower level again, making your disease

worse.

Hi ,

I live in Norway, so I have no idea what you should do to find a

doctor in the US, sorry about that. I have however seen a list in
