Guest guest
hi 6-MP (mercatopurine) is an immune modulator, and works towards the immune system, so does LDN. They does a different job towards it, and the one or another would probably not work. I think that 6 MP calms down the immune system while LDN makes it work in a higher tempo...so to say....so I am not sure those two will cooperate. But please wait for more answers in here, or ask your doctor. It sounds like your son has a severe Crohns (one of the IBD diseases), he is bleeding and he gets this medicine to calm down the inflammation. This medicine takes some months to kick in. I suggest you take a serious talk with your sons gastroenterolog and ask for more information about this medicine. I suggest also that if you decide to use LDN, it could be an idea to wait and calm down the worse inflammation and change the diet for your son at first. If you change the diet, also let the diet work for 3-4 months and when he ends using 6 MP and is better it could be worth a try to use LDN. The diet, if you use The Makers diet or The SCD diet are both diets that A LOT of ppl. with IBD have used for years. Those diets works. I am sure you'll get a lot of suggestions, take your time, and have a dialog with the doctor. Good luck With all the best to you and your son! Ingrid [low dose naltrexone] LDN and 6 MPHi all,I am anxiously awaiting the LDN cream for my 5 year old son. I amsupposed to get it tomorrow. My son is diagnosed with IBD and probably Crohn's colitis. He is currently on 25 mg Prednisone and 25 mg 6 MP, but with still 7/8bowel movements all with blood.Anyone here have experience with 6 MP and LDN? Pediatric GI said itwould take 3 months for 6 MP to take effect and so far I do not knowif it really is doing anything. I am hesitant to stop it cold turkey - the reasons being - not sure ifit needs a taper schedule, if it would worsen his condition..Any experience/feedback would really help me.Viswa.
