No it is not a knife but a type of radiation. Check out web page cduma.com for more info about it. her tumor was inoperable on the brain stem and they expect this to be her answer. It was only one day. A very intense day. I suggest you don't wait for a family member alone. She will now do a MRI every 6 weeks to check for growth of cells that may have been to immature for detection and had already spread. Savannah is now on Essiac tea also. We figure what ever the gamma didn't get maybe something a little healthier can. Thanks again for all the help. Hope this is helpful to someone else. Stacie Mom of baby w/brain tumors[R. Guest guest
Lamar, I am not considering the gamma knife, I just ran accross this article and thought someone may be interested in learning about it. Trust me, I will weigh out all options before I consider any kind of surgical method, invasive or non-invasive. Thanks, Tracey PS How is your niece doing? Guest guest
Tracey, Well, I just wanted you to know that I did in fact consider the gamma knife would put an end to my seizures. However, after having done an MRI I was informed the gamma knife was inappropriate for me. I was in fact ineligible for its use. Even if it had done what I wanted, the results would not have left me better off. That was just the way it was with my particular situation. Someone elses situation could be totally different. The point I wanted to make was that I could have saved myself the cost of an MRI if I had not been so pig-headed about the gamma knife solving my problem. What am I sayiing? Two things: 1) Don't be pig-headed when it comes to your health; 2) Ask a lot of questions of qualified professionals before you take action. I should have devoted more time to asking questions about my seizure disorder and the cyst relationship. If I had I would have learned that removing the cyst would not make my seizures go away. I have several neices. So far as I know, none of them have epilepsy. So far as I know, all of them are doing fine. Are you sure you got the right person's neice here? Guest guest
Tracey, You are absolutely correct. I have not heard from that particular neice since she got married back in June. Correction, I did get a few e-mail messages. Anyway, I was not able to attend the wedding, but did send a wedding gift. So, to answer your question, I really do not have a clue how that young woman is doing. I do not even know if she liked the wedding gift I sent her.
