I require magnesium and potassium to eliminate the problem. If I eat something salty, I need even more potassium. Dana
Guest guest
Rule out the possibility that this is actually seizure activity. A large number of mercury poisoned children will develop seizure activity. [ ] Do any of your kids have problems w/RESTLESS LEG? Anybody's kids have problems with restless leg? If so, what to do about it? Thanks.

Guest guest
My mercury poisoned daughter and myself do. There are many theories on what causes this. Some are helped by minerals. I do know that if mercury poisoning is an issue it does strange things to the nervous system. I was losing function in my hands, and my reflexes were very slow and non existent at times when tested. After I had my amalgams removed I have regained function of my hands and my reflexes are returning. All the research I have read shows clear damage in interferenc of nerve functions from mercury. If your child has mercury there is a likely hood this may be part of the problem. I wish there were any easy fix for it in the meantime. Avoid any stimulants of course. Make sure he is getting calcium, magnesium. They help some too. > > Anybody's kids have problems with restless leg? If so, what to do > about it? Guest guest
I agree w/ everything that everyone is saying on this topic. Everyone on my husband's side of the family has restless leg syndrome due to sleep apnea which ranges from mild - severe. Not sure if this is applicable w/ you child but thought I'd throw it out there just in case. btm66 <btm66@...> wrote: Seizures/Mercury: Do you have any resources I can use to give to the doctor to try and get him tested. Guest guest
When you said sleep deprived, it made me think about my son's sleep study. So, if he has seizures, it would have shown up on his recent sleep study. The sleep study is what found the 16 leg movements per hour.
> >
> > Rule out the possibility that this is actually seizure activity. Guest guest
Just wondering, were they told that the sleep apnea is causing the RLS or is the RLS causing the apnea? My son has had two sleep studies and the 1st one (June 05) showed sleep apnea due to enlarged tonsils and adenoids. The 2nd one (May 06) showed no sleep apnea, but hypoventilation with 16 leg movements per hour. I had a soft tissue xray done of his adenoids that showed they were normal now. So I'm thinking the RLS is what is mostly causing him to wake at night and pee in the bed. His almost 7. > > > > Rule out the possibility that this is actually seizure activity. Guest guest
My understanding of sleep apnea is that it's a stop of breathing, thus waking up, while sleeping. RLS probably causes sleep deprivation, not apnea. > > > > Rule out the possibility that this is actually seizure activity. Guest guest
For those of you running into sleep issues, do you/your kids have chemical-free beds? It's worth considering. Guest guest
Seizures would not necessarily show up on a sleep study, but might depending on what type seizure the individual has. Guest guest
It was at Duke. Guest guest
A mattress that is not treated with flame retardants, mold inhibitors etc. Essentially and all natural bed. They can be made of latex, organic cotton, organic wool. Etc. You can purchase organic mattresses or get a prescription for an " untreated " mattress and take it to the store and order one that is not treated. The list of chemicals they put on mattresses is sickening. It is also used on sheets, pillows, blankets, kid's pj's etc. > > > >
Just wondering, were they told that the sleep apnea > is causing the
> > RLS or is the RLS causing the apnea?
> >
> > My son has had two sleep studies and the 1st one (June 05) showed >
> > sleep apnea due to enlarged tonsils and adenoids. Guest guest
I got my chemical-free futon from Soaring Heart Futons in Seattle. I got my acupuncturist/NAET practitioner to write the prescription. Abundant Earth also makes them. Guest guest
I doubt it. I think they just want to make it more challenging to get and make sure the person buying one really realizes that it doesn't have flame retardant in it. Guest guest
I have not bought one yet. Only checked out how to buy it, as my son's bed is in bad shape. I have not heard of anyone here who has bought and gotten insurance to pay for it. I am pretty sure they would never cover such a thing. It is not medically necessary according to them. And it would be tough to prove that it is, because they would say that everyone else sleeps on one and is fine. Someone on here a while back said they took the prescription to a mattress store and ordered it, and it costs the same as any other mattress. There was no additional charge for ordering it untreated. You can get the script from a chiropractor or any doc. Apparently, this is not a medical insurance thing but a federal regulation for getting an untreated bed. Heaven forbid we could just go buy one. They seem to feel that all Americans are smoking in bed and might light ourselves up! I would be interested to hear if anyone did get this covered. But basically insurance doesn't cover beds unless you need a automatic one for disability reasons. > > > A mattress that is not treated with flame > > retardants, mold > > inhibitors etc. Essentially and all natural > > bed. Guest guest
OH, I SEE!! Yes, big brother. Sometimes we need one, but usually he isn't much help and most times we don't need one. --- Jan <paxlforme@...> wrote: Apparently, > this is not a medical insurance thing but a > federal regulation for > getting an untreated bed.
