Guest guest
We also think we might have an oxalate issue and have been advised to join Owen's group Trying_Low_Oxalates There is a lot of information in the files section here. With best wishes Excessive urination Hi allYou may remember we where having urination problems and bed wetting.I had stopped SS 111 and all supplements to see if it helped and promised feed back. We have stopped all supplements over two weeks and the problem is as bad as ever so I don't think it was the supplements. Also Lang got back to me regarding this and he said 'it may that a few friends of mine are floating the notion that some kids with ASD may have abnormal oxalate metabolism and excretion. What this may possibly mean in regards to Cian is that even a moderate amount of vitamin C might cause a buildup of oxalate and that could cause a urinary tract inflammation that could be present along with itching of the genital area, frequent urination, or bladder control issues.' There was Vit c in SS and also I was dosing Vit C for constipation so that may have something to do with it. However like I said that was stopped 2 weeks agoAnyone have information on this abnormal oxalate metabolism or can advice me. He is doing so well but this is now becoming an issue. I thought it would just go away!!Oh suggested I supplement with Vit B6 and Mag - (Any one doing this and what brand and where do you purchase.and his Intesimend - anyone have any feed back on this.thanksAileenme children
Guest guest
>Hi Aileen, we too are still having problems with peeing, not so much in quantity but now having many more accidents, very demoralising I know. Very interesting re vit C, this was one of the suggestions from Dr H, must bring this up a the conference with the experts. We have been off DMPS for ages now so don't think it is that. I have looked briefly at the low oxalate site but Sam does not really eat any of the things they say to avoid so abit stuck at the moment, also could be the dreaded yeast. see you on fri/sat Di > Hi all > You may remember we where having urination problems and bed wetting.I > had stopped SS 111 and all supplements to see if it helped and > promised feed back. > > We have stopped all supplements over two weeks and the problem is as > bad as ever so I don't think it was the supplements. > > > Also Lang got back to me regarding this and he said > > 'it may that a few friends of mine are floating the notion that some > kids with ASD may have abnormal oxalate metabolism and excretion. > What this may possibly mean in regards to Cian is that even a > moderate > amount of vitamin C might cause a buildup of oxalate and that could > cause a urinary tract inflammation that could be present along with > itching of the genital area, frequent urination, or bladder control > issues.' > > There was Vit c in SS and also I was dosing Vit C for constipation > so that may have something to do with it. Guest guest
We have been doing low oxalate diet (in conjunction with SCD) for about a month now, hasn't helped with night wetting, which I am still trying to find a reason for, as Joe was dry at night for a few months but has now regressed, treating yeast again now, hopefully that will sort it. Low oxalate is not that difficult to convert to, from SCD, except no nuts, but I have been using pumpkin seeds instead, probably more healthy anyway, and Jody from pecanbread is on the low oxalates list so can help with combining the two. Vicky you can also make SCD nut yoghurt if you don't want to risk goats milk, that is casein free, receipe is on pecanbread, I think Emma (who seems to on every list I am lol!) uses this. Guest guest
I agree with the pumpkin seeds. One of the few problems with the SCD diet is the nuts with their high copper content, problematic for any child whose copper load is already high. I don't know if pumpkin seeds have high zinc or not. Does anybody? Just wanted to mention the nuts/copper connection in case this is an issue for someone. Guest guest
Thanks Seema Do you order Thorne from Breakspear? I'll do that too only giving Acidophilis twice a day - how much should I give? unless Cian is just detoxing from diet. I don't know but another phone call from school today. He gushed and was so taken by surprise. I can cope with home but when it goes into school it is kind of difficult to explain Aileen > > > > Hi all > > You may remember we where having urination problems and bed > wetting.I > > had stopped SS 111 and all supplements to see if it helped and > > promised feed back. > > > > We have stopped all supplements over two weeks and the problem is > as > > bad as ever so I don't think it was the supplements. > > > > > > Also Lang got back to me regarding this and he said > > > > 'it may that a few friends of mine are floating the notion that > some > > kids with ASD may have abnormal oxalate metabolism and excretion. > > What this may possibly mean in regards to Cian is that even a > > moderate > > amount of vitamin C might cause a buildup of oxalate and that could > > cause a urinary tract inflammation that could be present along with > > itching of the genital area, frequent urination, or bladder control > > issues.' > > > > There was Vit c in SS and also I was dosing Vit C for constipation > > so that may have something to do with it. Guest guest
I meant I didn't know if pumpkin seeds are high in copper, sorry. Guest guest
Hi Di Sorry your problem is still there Well Cian does eat spinice and butternut squash (is that the same as summer squash as it is this that is listed to avoid) So I'll pull those and see. Definately hope to get some info at the weekend. I'm really looking forward to it (how sad!)i will be around on Friday as we are flying in on a morning flight. Guest guest
Hi Seema No I don't think so, there is something about having an account. I do remember i had to speak to the finance guy before been put through or something. Anyway have ordered different things and I am not a patient/client. The numbers I've got are:Credit Control -01442-867285 then Pharmacy 01442-266244 Breakspear ifself is 01442-261333 but i think you ring Credit Control and explain you want to purchase a product. Hopefully that will help you. I do have something I bought (unopened!!!) from Breakspear and it was Thorne brand so thats why I asked. They do seem to have quite a few brands >Can you clarify this piece.. > Try to combine Probiotics... Guest guest
there is only one probiotic SCD agrees with and thats Acidophilis pure so as things are ok re: BMs I'll leave it for now. But thanks for the update. Aileen

Guest guest
FWIW, many on the low oxalate list report excessive urination clears up when starting the diet and comes back with infractions. Not the case for my son. He had excessive night urination (massive soaking). I was concerned about diabetes but all his testing was fine It finally cleared up when I stopped giving his zinc at night and started giving it in the am. I have heard others report this also. hth, > > My friend wanted me to post this question. Her son has all of a > sudden been having frequent urination. He has not begun chelation > yet.
