The list of salicylates you can google for -- maybe the Feingod website even has them listed. You keep *all* of them out of the diet for at least 6 weeks, and then add them back in one at a time and look for reactions. The artificial stuff is trickier. The cheapest and easiest way to handle it is not to eat any processed food. One big problem with processed food is that there are loopholes in the labeling laws so that manufacturers can put crap in there but not say so. For example, BHT is often sprayed on the inside wrapping of cereal boxes, as a preservative, but since it wasn't directly added to the food it doesn;t have to be on the label -- even though it leaches right into the food and can cause a whopper of a reaction in those who are sensitive to it (we've found BHT to be particularly evil). So just reading labels is unfortunately not enough, and if you try it that way you'll improve overall health but still end up with a bunch of reactions from stuff you don't know is there, which makes it impossible to sort out what's a problem for your kid and what isn't. But again, you can sidestep the whole thing if you cook from scratch. Nell
