Guest guest
We're considering doing an ALA/DMSA chelation protocol with our son. He is six, non-verbal, diagnosed as autistic, main stims are chewing (books/toys/clothing)and twiddling with bits of paper. We're feeling a little discouraged at the moment, especially given his age.....and I kind of wonder whether chelation will be effective on a child his age. As far as I can figure out, at 1/8 mg per pound for ALA this would be about 7 mg for a 55 pound child. Is my math way off? Also, for the DMSA at 1/4 per pound of body weight, this would be about 14 mg for a 55 pound child?? Just wondering if I am way off with my calculations. I've ordered the Puritan's Pride 30 mg capsules of ALA and I will probably look for the DMSA at Kirkmans. What's the best way to divide capsules? Also....can the ALA and DMSA be mixed together or should they be taken separately? I am hoping I can mix them into a chilled single-serving of applesauce.
