I have had this for over a month...I just started TD-DMSA and am

wondering when I should add it...dosing times (my doc just said 3X

day, or every 8hours) should I be as nervous as I am to add this? I am

so afraid of redistribution????

Good gut instinct.

The vast majority of parents here apply TD-DMSA every 4 hours

instead of every 8 hours. That schedule is based on the elimination

half-life of the drug (the time necessary to reduce the quantity of

the drug in the body to half of it's original level). This should

lead to a greatly reduced chance of redistribution (thus fewer side

effects); presumably by keeping the blood levels constant.

Pam

p.s. our DAN! doc also prescribed TD-DMSA every 8 hours. I told

her I was considering applying it every 4 hours. She was fine with

that; and that is what I do. Simply cut the dose prescribed on the

prescription note in half for each application. For my approx. 50

lb son I apply .3 ml (equals 63 mgs DMSA).

I wouldn't do every 8 hours . . . you WILL be redistributing.
