I haven't been back to see her since we talked about that, but amazingly I haven't forgotten. I think n's next appointment is in Nov. n didn't tolerate CLO for a long time either, but NN's ProEFA he did, if that helps. Nell
Guest guest
Hi, we saw Megson a long time ago and had to use CLO 2 months before (even tho son's vit a levels were normal) starting b-chol... Hope this helps :-) lanellici <lanellici@...> wrote: > > Hi All, > > Has anyone ever checked into whether the Vitamin A that should be in > place before any Bethanechol is tried has to be the cis form? Our son is on CLO, and our appt for the benechol first dose is Sept 28th. We are not seeing Megson tho, but a DAN Dr in UK. I am very hopeful that there will be a tangible difference. We think he is already communicating better since the CLO started, although he also had no deficiency in vit A either. Any news appreciated Sue
Guest guest
Anne, Have you tried the CLO Blue Ice? It says on the label that it is " unique in the industry offering a premium quality High Vitamin Cod Liver Oil without the addition of synthetic or soy-based antioxidants. " Maybe that would address the problem? Anita > > Hi All, > > Has anyone ever checked into whether the Vitamin A that should be in > place before any Bethanechol is tried has to be the cis form? Guest guest
Anita, I have never tried that, no. In fact, I had no idea there was a non- soy based CLO out there. Thanks for the information! I will look into it. Are you by any chance using it? Guest guest
We do use it here Anne. I bought it from here http://www.greenpasture.org/ . The people at Nourishing Traditions recommend it. DS has virtually no Vitamin A in him in spite of heavy supplementing with other CLOs(#%#%$^@ measles virus) and so although we've not got any problems with soy, I chose this CLO as it is supposed to have the highest concentration of cis A. I also use the butter oil, although I cannot speak at all to its efficacy. As far as taste goes, I cannot give you much information. Apparently the mint is supposed to be the best flavour for kids, but this stuff does taste more like the old-fashioned CLO. Yuck. Good news is you should need less of it. HTH, Anita PS Thanks for all the ammonia talk. It is something I'm looking into now. :-) > > Anita, > > I have never tried that, no. In fact, I had no idea there was a non- > soy based CLO out there. Guest guest
When there is chronic inflammation as there is with any long standing disease, natural cis A has a hard time getting in. We always try and give a combination with clo and another water soluble source which has a much quicker uptake, like retinyl acetate. Guest guest
WE are using the Blu Ice CLO--what a interesting fact. My husband uses it. My son is on NOrdic Naturals. When he brought it home, I was suspicious as Ive never heard of it before. A friend from work (who is an organic grower) buys this stuff by the cases and swears by it. He gives it to his whole family. We have the cinnamon Tingle flavor and let me tell you it smells pretty tingly. Im going to ask Dr Megson about it on our next trip to VA in October. After all Ive read, it sounds like the best out there. If she gives the OK--Im switching. Something without soy sounds good to me. Yuck. My daughter and I are making our way through a bottle of NN's peach-flavored CLO. I swear I'm gagging just typing that. She's said if I throw the bottle away she'll buy a new one -- different flavor! -- out of her allowance. Thanks for posting that site, I'm all over it. Guest guest
, I had no idea! Where did you find this out? We're doing only cis A right now, where does one find retinyl acetate? Thanks René > > When there is chronic inflammation as there is with any long standing disease, natural cis A has a hard time getting in. Guest guest
Wish I would have worded this differently. The natural cis A in cod liver oil is fat soluble and has a slower uptake than the water soluble Vitamin A. Fat soluble Vitamin A is dependent on someone's ability to properly absorb and distribute the A, not something a lot of our kids can do. This is particularly true of anyone who's digestion is not working properly. There is a discussion of this in Baker and Pangborn's new book, although I have read this elsewhere prior to reading it there. Water soluble A, on the other hand is not dependent on someone's ability to absorb fat. We are still buying retinyl acetate in our town, although I understand Twin Labs is no longer making it. Last time my dd bought all they had. You can use retinyl palmitate, but some kids have more trouble with that form, although I don't think we do here. Megson is not big on retinyl palmitate. You can still purchase the retinyl acetate in Twin Labs Allergy A and D, but would be limited in the amount you could give as you would overdose the D. Guest guest
LOL Nell! Our kids certainly have a different view of the world--how many other children talk about spending their allowance on CLO? The other day my dd was making up her own little rock song--not an uncommon thing for an 8 year old--except hers was entitled " Magnesium " :-) Anyway, I know that the NN oils are highly recommended, but I tried three different bottles of the CLO and they all tasted horrible to me (DH is taking them now ;-)) I had much better luck with the Carlsons and it is cheaper too. But for now we're sticking with the $$$$ Blue Ice. Anita > > > My daughter and I are making our way through a bottle of NN's > peach-flavored CLO. I swear I'm gagging just typing that. Guest guest
I know I thought it was odd and strange to hear my three year old running around saying " probiotic " and laughing like it was a nursery rhyme. Or sometimes he yells...Gummi Zincs! Sad that he even has to know what those things are. Sadder is that his 11 year old sister has offered to use her allowance to buy his supplements... > > > > > > My daughter and I are making our way through a bottle of NN's > > peach-flavored CLO.
