Guest guest
Ok. It is 3:12 am and for the third night in a row we are up with a very yeasty boy. He is singing and jabbering and screaming when Daddy or Mommy doesn't come in and keep him company as he struggles to keep calm. For a solid 2 years now, we have understood yeast and have used several herbal drops and dry preparations to fight yeast with varied success (that has depended on several factors we could not see - due to the fact that they are microscopic and hidden inside his body). So, a month ago or so we received our lab tests results that the DAN! office had ordered (stool, urine, and blood) and I met with the nurse regarding them. Even though he was sleeping 10-11 hours a night and was a happy and behaved guy, the labs showed very elevated candida due to arabinose being high. She also said that the tests pointed to high clostridia, strep, and some staph. She also said that the tests showed the stuff in his gut would be very vulnerable to Nystatin (yeast at least) and she wrote out a long list of interventions we were to do as I felt comfortable introducing one at a time to get his bile flowing, gut in check etc. So she wanted us to begin with colostrum (done), then we felt viruses were dying off and we went slow on that. She said his bile duct was blocked and to give artichoke extract daily which we are doing. He did have a painful experience when the obstruction passed and we still give this with food twice a day. He seemed to tolerate this. Then after a few days, he started to act spinny and aggressive, but was still sleeping. I thought, well maybe now I see the yeast she was saying was there so I need to begin the nystatin (the prescription is nice and simple plus it is mixed with xylitol to help fight stuff). Starting 12 days ago, we began to work our way up to 4 ml. 3 times a day sometimes with food and once before bed which is on an empty stomach (with no fenol just in case). Again, after a few days on full doses, he seemed to get worse (not right away - after 4 days or so). He got really angry, impatient, spinning himself in circles (he usually just spins his hands near his face, so this was extreme for him) and began to have difficulty transitioning. We waited several dyas to see if it was die off, but it maintained and he seemed to become increasingly aggressive and mad. I wondered if maybe killing the yeast for a week was causing a flare in the bacteria she had said was so bad (she had already asked me to give black walnut for that and because she suspected parasites...also she had suggested oregon grape root for his bacteria problems). He behavior was deteriorating and I knew SOMETHING had to be done. So, Saturday (4 days ago) we began to add black walnut sometimes with and sometimes without food and usually near his nystatin dose (there is only so much time in a day). We worked up to 1/6th of a cap twice a day. That is when the " yeast " began to get so bad. Now he is cranky all day. Hits us when upset, is upset all the time at someone and is watching his " soothing " shows on TV. I had been giving him nystatin, no fenol, and black walnut right before bed and for the first time in his life, he had trouble falling asleep. So, this past night, I switched it up and gave him all of his doses of nystatin and black walnut throughout the day and he got his magnesium/calcium/zinc systemic that I ususally do in the afternoon right before bed. Alas, he fell right to sleep, but at 2:40 he woke up full throttle " yeasty. " What is going on do you think? This is my yeasty boy, but that doesn't make sense! Can/does intolerance of a supplement (even given with no fenol) look like extreme yeast (b/c the bad yeasty behavior did coincide with the full dose of black walnut)? If he doesn't tolerate that, would you suggest the oregon grape root now to fight the bacteria? Should I stay on the nystatin? Drop it? Stay on black walnut? Drop it? Treat with something else? We do give 2 different probiotics, but from his labs, I am worried they aren't working...so I am terrified now that my even-keeled boys is all stirred up and I need to get control of the gut balance. What different supplements of ours would you keep doing and in what combination to get ahold of the gut? When would you give them? With food? If anyone can help me change this today, I would really appreciate it. Gosh, he needs some rest... Thank you, --------------------------------- Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr.
