low dose naltrexone

Subject: Re: [low dose naltrexone] LDN, REBIF, AND Urination issue, i have MS, can someone help?

I have never heard of a problem with urinating like that before with LDN. I will save the message though in case it comes up again.

Personally I would not fluxuate between the 2 types of medicines like that (LDN and Revif). It sounds like you tried to work though the difficulties by going backwards and taking lower dosages. I wonder what would have happened if you went with the larger LDN dosage temporarily. I will send you posts on that.

I hope things get better for you soon. Usually the bladder frequency problems with MS clear up when taking LDN.

My best

Aletha

[low dose naltrexone] LDN, REBIF, AND Urination issue, i have MS, can someone help?

A couple of months ago I was taking Rebib for MS. Previously I was onCopaxone. I made it through the titration period for Rebif, and thenthe 2nd month at full dose. Rebif made me feel hung over and out of itthe entire time as well. I had been out drinking Alcohol with friendsduring this time as well(probably not a good idea). I quit the Rebifand started taking LDN in liquid form. I began having problemsurinating(could not urinate, serious hesitation, bladder not fullyemptying)-do not know if it was a result of LDN or not) I startedtaking LDN at full dose of 4.5 for about a week. I encounteredspasticity and my walking became worse. I then dropped down to 3.0 fora while and the spasticity and walking problem continued, was on thisdose for about a week. Then finally I dropped down to 1.5 and took itfor 2 weeks. I saw a Urologist for the urination issue, had acystoscopy. As a result he told me I had a "narrowing" urethra that hestretched. I had quit taking LDN for about a 5 days after theprocedure and seemed to be getting better. I then started the LDNagain and the urination issues returned. I then quit the LDN for thepast 3 days and urination has improved a little. Last night I tried tostart taking the Rebif again at full dose of 44mcg. This morning Iwoke up with the worse flare up ever-could barely stand or walk. Iprobably should have titrated back into the Rebif by taking the 8mcgfor 2 weeks, and then the 20 mcg for two weeks and finally the 44mcgafter that. I am a point where I just don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone please offer me some sound advice on what I should do?

Hi Everyone,

I have been on LDN for about 16 days for CLL. Every 6 months I have to go to the Oncologist to check my numbers. Before LDN my number were starting to creep up a little.

A year and a half ago my number was 18. 6 months ago it had crept up to 24 and today my number was 14.5. Praise the Lord and thankful for the LDN.

Am looking forward to my next 6 month check-up and a further reduction in my numbers.

For those of you who are taking the LDN please don't give up or stop taking it. I plan to stay with it.

Dudley

How will your group differ from Dee's ldn_4_cancer group?

Here is Dee's website and story http://survivecancerfoundation.org/

And, I have found the best way to eliminate spammers from a group is to put NEW members only on Moderation and moderate their first two posts only. If they are spammers, I set their membership to not allow posting.

Otherwise, moderating each and every post can lead to a lot of extra work plus censorship.

About those numbers, are you referring to lymphocytes or Hemoglobin or what. I ask because I am trying to compare them with my Partner's numbers. We have given the oncologist a folder with info about treatment for CLL with LDN. Today we heard from his office that he had never prescribed that for a patient. However he had turned the info over to a pharmacist to look at. His office also pointed out that it wasn't approved by the FDA for CLL treatment. Still he didn't totally deny it. so......we're hopeful....

I am not really sure what numbers are what b ut I do know that there is a Bun/Creat. Ratio that they are always referring to and that is the numbers that I am watching.

I have a copy of my lab report in my hand. If you tell me what you are looking for I will look on my lab reports and tell you.

Mt Hemoglobin is 12.9 and lymphocytes is 80.

Since the oncologist doesn't tell me anything I have no idea if this is good or bad. Any light you can shed on this would be most appreciative. How does this compare with your partner's numbers?

Thank you again

Dear Judy, Regarding your lymphocyte count, it is important to know whether you are refering to the % of lymphocytes or the Absolute Lymphocyte Count (ALC). The report should give both. The percent of lymphocytes should have a % sign by the number. The Absolute Lymphocyte Count may either have ALC or # or nothing by the number. When refering to someone who has chronic lymphocytic leukemia, it is the ALC that the novice should be looking at. You can get the correct conclusion using the %, but it requires some math calculations. Warm wishes, Jan
