Guest guest Posted October 16, 2006 Report Share Posted October 16, 2006 Diflucan is an antifungal. It does not need to be taken for 10 days like an antibotic. Usually it is dosed once for treatment in women. However, for chronic candida it is given daily for a few weeks. So it is not unusual to only take two or three doses of this. It will not cause antibiotic resistance as it only kills funguses. Namely candida. Did you mean 25mg of dmsa? Dosing for this is 1/8mg per pound and given every four hours three day/two nights on and four or eleven days off. Milk thistle is fine and should always be given during chelation. We use it all the time. We dose a 1/4 capsule four times a day. So what you suggested sound right. Four times a day is probably adequate though. He is also on multivites and proper minerals right? For chronic severe yeast, the diflucan may be needed in between rounds too, as you suggested. Is he on probiotics? We use grapefruit seed extract every day and increase the amount on a round because my son's yeast never seems to go away. You may have to play it by ear and see if he gets too yeasty in between rounds. My son was around 47lbs, is it mean about 6mg should be given each time? That's mean I have to divide the 25mg capsule. My son also on probiotic, super nuthera, vit. Did he take a course and problem disappeared and then reappeared? If it is confined to gi tract, Nystatin should be enough. Difflucan is for systemic, where yeast has gotten into organs, heart, etc. Nystatin isn't absorbed through gi tract, it just works in areas most susceptible to yeast, mouth, throat, stomach, gi tract, colon.
